Rumor: "Odyssey" and "Marco" WP8 devices coming from Samsung

After a decent break without any Windows Phone hardware releases or announcements, it's nice to see some new leaks coming out. This one surrounds Samsung and two upcoming Windows Phone 8 smartphones they appear to have in the pipeline, as outed by court documents in the heated Apple vs Samsung trial.

The document describes "Odyssey" and "Marco" smartphones both slated for a Q4 2012 release, and both with Qualcomm's latest 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 chipsets that we found to be speedy in the HTC One XL. The Odyssey is the more premium of the devices, featuring a 4.65" Super AMOLED HD display (possibly the same as the Galaxy Nexus), LTE and HSPA+, NFC and an 8-megapixel rear camera.

The Marco is said to come with LTE as well, but no NFC and just a 4.0" WVGA Super AMOLED display and a 5-megapixel rear camera. The pictures of the devices, provided by The Verge, are very small, so there's no telling exactly what these devices will look like at this stage.

Look out for these devices towards the end of the year, which is when Windows Phone 8 is expected to be released.

I'd love a bigger display since I have a 3.8" right now and it's almost too small for my poor eyesight. I think 4.3 and higher is right for people like me. A good 4.6" would be great actually.

my ZTC Skate, or Optimus Monte Carlo has 4.3 Display. In the begining was a little bit odd and weird to have such a big handset, but now I think it ok. compared to my Nokia 5800 tiny display.

In the end, I still prefer Nokia 5800 pratical use for comom task's, like phonecalls and sms.

for 20 years i asked myself why most smartphones shipped with 3.6 display, for 3 4 years everyone coped with apple poor decision to have 3.6 display.

why????????

why the big jump from 3.6 to 4.3? why hasn't a single person thought that 4 will be better all round display? and more convenient.

now apple said 4 inch, so other company's jumped the 4 inch wagon, it's pretty sad.

Beat me to it. Classic example of someone thinking Apple did something then everyone copied when in actual fact Apple copies others then calls it revolutionary (or resolutionary...) and consumers believe it.

Think it's just a default filler image that they're using for now.

Yeah, looks like a generic "phone" picture to me too...
