Rumor: Verizon getting the Lumia 920, HTC 8X and ATIV S

PhoneArena has been quite accurate lately with their Windows Phone 8-related rumors, correctly showing us leaked photos of the HTC 8X before it was announced a few days ago. Now, they've managed to obtain part of Verizon's line-up for the upcoming months, and apart from listing numerous Android devices it states that three flagship Windows Phones are coming to the carrier, confirming previous thoughts.

Of course as the title of this article says, we're talking about the Nokia Lumia 920, the Windows Phone 8X by HTC and the Samsung ATIV S - all the flagship Windows Phone 8 devices from the respective manufacturers. Assuming these devices utilize Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 dual-core chipset, LTE will be available in all of these devices on Verizon's expansive network.

The leaked roadmap states that the devices will be launched sometime in November, with a good chance being that these devices will launch just days after Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 release in the last week of October. The news that new Windows Phones are coming to Verizon is great news for those who swear by the carrier, as previously WP fans have been restricted to just the aging HTC Trophy.

If Verizon gets the 920 here I come....I really cannot switch off Verzion due to them being the best service around here of the major carriers and I rather not go with AT&T even if they had great coverage.

Never thought I would have such a hard time with phone choices at Verizon! Glad to see the possibility of me trying to choose between Nokia 920 and HTC 8X... let the battle begin! Love my Trophy, but ready for something on LTE.

Not to nitpick, but why does the article say "Rumor: Verizon getting the Lumia 920, HTC 8X and ATIV S". When it should be "Rumor: Verizon getting the Lumia 920 and ATIV S". The HTC 8X is already confirmed coming to Verizon.

The article says that all 3 will have LTE, however, the ATIV S isn't an LTE capable phone...please correct me if I'm wrong.

The US version probably will have LTE. The SGSIII had it only in the US as well.

Verizon stopped carrying smartphones that did not support their LTE network some time ago. So, either it is an LTE phone, or it won't be on Verizon.

Well, according to Samsung's ATIV S product page it supports HSPA+ and EDGE/GPRS. They must be making a separate version for Verizon.

wow this makes the choice even harder, I was already set on the HTC 8X with T-Mobile because no way I would go with AT&T for the 920 but now I'm having seconds thoughts hmmm Verizon here I come???? lol

If you were already set on T-Mobile for your carrier...why would you want Verizon. T-mobile gives you UNLIMITED 4G option. Yes, it's probably not as fast as Verizon's LTE, but HSPA+ speeds of 21mb/7mb aren't too shabby. PLUS, no matter how fast Verizon is, your limited to just 2GB/month (or 5, etc depending if you want to pay more)

If this is true, then I'm switching from AT&T because of poor call quality and bad signal strength in my area. I use less than a GB per month anyway, so I'm not too worried about the data caps (not that I agree with them), but I cannot wait to stop getting those damn dropped calls and wildly varying signal.

Yes, thinking about it, it's true, I'm only paying $70 to T-Mobile for unlimited everything except voice (Which I don't care because I hate talking on the phone), that 920 is so sweet though.

Hang on a second, something is wrong here. You know the feeling you get when something sounds too good to be true.......

Yep. I've had that happen so many times with VZW that it's got to the point where I want to switch, but I don't ever want to lose my unlimited 4G.

Ugh.... Sprint PLEASE get the 920? Please?

Sprint seems to be fine with selling you the iPhone for now though. If AT&T and Verizon do well and actually push these WP8 devices and they show good numbers then Sprint will change it's mind quick.

Thank goodness!!! I honestly would have had no problem with switching to AT&T as my contract with Verizon is up however the area I am going to college to only has Verizon towers and AT&T service is slim to none. That just made my day 10x better.

Well worth the $ 60. LOL I jumped the entire company from Sprint to Verizon a couple of years ago and would never consider going back...

Is it just me, or do Lumia 800/900 still have look better than any other phone?

Talking about new Nokia phones too!

I have to agree. I preferred the design of the 800 / 900 as well.

I thought AT&T has an exclusivity agreement with Nokia on their phones? Or was AT&T the only carrier that bothered to sell the previous Lumia's?

T-Mobile sold the Lumai 710.

Exclusive agreements are made on a phone by phone basis, not unilaterally on all phones from a manufacturer...

I wish I could do an upgrade and keep my unlimited data :\ I'll have to buy the phone outright if I want to keep that...

I'm still on my 3G unlimited plan (i bought my Trophy off ebay) Do you think they'll allow me to access the 4G data without switching to the new plans if I buy my phone outright? Technically i have to switch from 3G to 4G, but I'm not sure if that matters when it comes to forcing me into the new plans.

You won't have to do anything. If you buy the phone outright FROM Verizon, they'll send you the phone a SIM card to put in the device. The ESN will be attached to your account, and all you'll have to do is activate it via *228 and that's it.

Switching from 3G to 4G means nothing in terms of your plan.

Nope. I was able to make the switch from my Droid Incredible (a 3G device) to a Galaxy Nexus (4G LTE) with no changes in my data plan. You can't upgrade through Verizon and keep your unlimited data plan. You have to buy the device at full cost from Verizon, like Shamrock said.

Oh please let this be true.... I don't want to deal with AT&T for a 920.

You and me both, brother (or sister).
