Samsung ATIV S Windows Phone heading to Phones 4u

Samsung's recently announced ATIV S Windows Phone 8 device is 'coming soon' to the UK phone retailer Phones 4U. On the Coming Soon page of their website it states that the ATIV S, as well as the Samsung Galaxy Note II and HTC Desire X are coming soon, with a form to keep updated on the releases. Unfortunately no specific dates have yet to be appear. Yesterday preorders for the device appeared on Expansys USA and Italy, however no price is given.

The ATIV S, which was announced at the Samsung Unpacked event at IFA 2012, is the first smartphone to run Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 operating system. The device features a 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED display, a 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera on the rear of the device, and a 1.9 megapixel camera on the front, all housed in a brushed aluminum casing.

Nokia, who most expected would show off a Windows Phone 8 device first due to deals with Microsoft, decided to crash the party, with one Nokia employee calling the ATIV S just a "warm-up act" for the upcoming launch of new Lumia devices running Windows Phone 8.

Yeah, I agree, but the lumia 920 is looking very good so far, if it all holds true that is.

For me too. I like phones designs with metal involved, like aluminum etc. Nokia is too much plastic for me.

The Samsung phone actually looks quite nice. Its a shame the display is only 4.8-inch. When they bump up the screensize to something actually useable that won't get lost in the back of my rucksack, say 8.5-inch, then I think I'll be looking up that offer

Seriously though, 4.8 is a big screen. Do people even put their phone into pockets anymore? or do I just have a small pockets?!

You have small pockets ;P I have a 4.5" HTC One X, slightly smaller than this guy, and it sits perfectly fine in my pants.

It's a phone, not a tablet. I don't want to hold something the size of a sheet of paper (ok, a bit smaller....) next to my head to talk on the phone. If you want a windows 8 tablet....you can get one. probably use skype too....but it will be a tablet and not a phone.

Samsung is kicking apples ass (outside of court) when it comes to producing phone after phone that is an "iphone killer". They've killed several of their own "iphone killers" already.

I plan on getting this when it drops and when I do will unlock it where I unlock all my phones: http://gsmunlocklabs.com/samsung-unlock-code/
