Samsung Galaxy S III rumored for June 20th Canadian launch

Could the Samsung Galaxy S III be heading for North America in just a few weeks? A new rumor story from MobileSyrup.com suggests that the answer is in fact, "Yes," if the Canadian release is a signal for what is to come. The story claimed to have posted up a screenshot (since removed) that showed a June 20th launch date in Canada for the Android 4.0 smartphone up north.

The story adds that the device will be available from a number of Canadian wireless carriers, including TELUS, Bell, WIND, Videotron, SaskTel and Mobilicity. It adds that pre-orders for the Galaxy S III could start as soon as May 30th, which is less than a week away.

This could also signal that the Galaxy S III could be coming to the US around the same time, although so far no wireless carrier in the US nor Samsung have given a specific launch date other than sometime this summer. The Galaxy S II launched in other parts of the world several months before it came to the US in September 2011.

Meanwhile, the smartphone is preparing for its European debut. As we have reported before, the Galaxy S III will begin selling in the UK and other Europeans territories next week, as soon as May 29th in some cases. In fact a few people have already gotten lucky enough to buy one, or even two.

I don't know why someone would want to buy this phone, it is actually a pretty poor phone when run under test condition .

don't know where you read your review but that's one nice smartphone

a link for everyone to assimilate/disseminate would be a bit better. While there are some things I like about this new phone, some I dislike ... however, I would be waiting for the release and see what people think first hand and then decide if it is worth getting.

This is from testing the phone myself as that is what I do. I don't do reviews.

Do you happen to own an iPhone, because if you do, I will just ignore everything you say about any other smartphone out there.

Are you sure you are talking about SGS 3? I bet you are not.

Were not getting the quad core version in North America.

Right now, custom Rom dev is crap. The Dev's are split my carrier types(Rogers/ATT, and Tmobile/Telus). Samsung STILL hasnt released Android 4.0 for North American Galaxy S II's and thus no source code for the kernel is released. This means our dev is based on leaks that are bricking phones and are buggy.

Not worth the upgrade.

When has Samsung ever released any source code for their kernel/ROMs? I'm pretty sure the 4.0 kernel was released into the AOSP source tree already.

Kernel souce was released in March for the international version ... I9100 and I9100M. The I9100G does not have it I believe.

Actually Canada has the international Galaxy S2 (Bell) as well as the AT&T one, which Telus had.

I bought it from someone who got it from Bell unlocked. I am currently in India with it on the Vodafone network. Everything works great on Cyanogen 9 Just get the international version and stop complaining.
