Samsung said to be considering Snapdragon 820 for Galaxy S7

A leaked OS testing roadmap alleged to be that of Samsung has revealed that the company might be considering the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 for its next flagship smartphone.

Back in December, news broke that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 was overheating and that many manufacturers were considering skipping the processor for their flagship smartphones. While some manufacturers released devices with the chip, Samsung skipped it altogether and used its own Exynos chip for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

Now, the leaked document has mentioned that Samsung has added a new "hero" device codenamed Jungfrau to its Android M testing roadmap which is running on the Snapdragon 8996 chipset that was earlier revealed to be the Snapdragon 820 in a leak.

It is possible that the device mentioned in the document is just a prototype created for testing the Qualcomm chip and it is too early to tell whether we will see the chip making it to the final device.
