Skype gives free month of landline calls

Chatting through Skype can be an excellent way to get in touch with people, but its full potential isn't realised without Skype Credit. Normally, Skype Credit is not free but at the moment you can score a free month from the company themselves.

Some limitations exist, such as a fair-usage policy, so you can't go too wild. Don't go calling a premium-rate line unless you have your own credit, in other words. Certain countries are exempt from the offer, so do make sure you read the small print. Somehow it isn't available in Russia, but you can call landlines in Russia - providing they're in Moscow or St. Petersburg. This should help you tell.

If you'd like something for nothing, now is the time to act. The offer expires tomorrow. If you want to take advantage of the offer, do it now, for you're not getting another shot at free. We're yet to find someone complaining about getting a service for free legally. The price of free is not one to sneer at.

Lots of cheering in the article, hm?
Aside from my usual snide remark that opinion doesn't belong into news articles, I guess Paul Ferson just got something for free he usually pays good money for (or would).

Claiming mine now and thanks for the heads up!

When you do hand over payment details, please note that this is a typical Auto-Renew deal. If you want out, you NEED to cancel the service before the next billing cycle.

After the first month, your subscription will automatically continue and payments will be taken monthly unless you cancel within 27 days of the start date. Only one free Unlimited World subscription can be claimed per customer.

DO THIS ASAP!
I signed in, used paypal, it took £1 from my account, cancelled the pre-authourised payment (under profile, it's the 3rd tab down then 'pre-authourised payments' link) and after 5 minutes got my £1 back to my account.

WTF! If you've used Skype by signing in with Microsoft Account, the free month is not valid?

It's working for Pakistan? Have you made any calls?

It is not for local calls 'to' Pakistan. I have friends, family, and business in USA, Canada, and Australia, free calls for a month will save a tone in phone bills

Well I seemed to have enrolled three times!! I finally managed to get to the bit authorising payment, said ok and got an error. Did that three times before three emails from paypal announced Skype had ringfenced £1 x 3, (which the web page says they do not collect on, thank goodness.) All I have to do now is remember to cancel three times sometime before they start collecting on the monthly subscription.

Does this auto charge you at the end of the month?

Yes it is on auto-renew if you sign up so unless you cancel within the first month you will be charged for renewal.
