Skype with People Hub integration 'is coming'

Last night, Joe Belfiore, head of the Windows Phone division at Microsoft and promoter of the People Hub had some good news for all Windows Phone enthusiasts. He mentioned on Twitter a few bug fixes and updates that the operating system will receive. We've already covered the "other" memory bug which is getting fixed but Belfiore also mentioned Skype would be getting an upgrade that will finally integrate the popular VOIP client with your contacts from the People Hub.

Of course this isn't a new idea. Skype integration has been speculated and promised ever since the company was acquired by Microsoft but so far that vision has not been delivered. If anything, Microsoft's efforts with Skype have been horribly underwhelming when it comes to its own platforms, the app being very limited and lacking on both Windows Phone as well as Windows RT.

According to Belfiore, People Hub integration will be coming via an app update. It's interesting that the operating system doesn't need tinkering with considering there will be some pretty deep integration going on. Unfortunately, there's no timetable on this so there's no way to tell if the wait will be a few days or a few months. Unfortunately it's probably closer to the latter.

Given Microsoft's current philosophy of not talking about things until they're ready, I don't see any evidence to support a feature being revealed and the update still taking months... Especially when it's just an App Update...

I've used WP since almost the beginning but this is simply a blah-blah, blah, blah-blah statement. MS need to be doing much better to get more people switching to WP8.

Skype some how losing that craze of bringing and adding new and exciting new features after MS took over it..

What does MS exactly do when they take over something, do they replace the creative heads with their own marketing people ??

Skype and its advancement feels so monotonous after its been taken over by MS compare to how Skype used to excite us with upcoming new features !!!!

There is so much you can do to improve a VOIP service - it's been going slow for skype before Microsoft bought it. The only things that were going to improve from this purchase where MS' own products (Lync and WP mostly, since WLM is going to be killed).

You may recall that when Microsoft took over Skye there was an outcry about how Microsoft would meddle with it and mess it up. Now there's an outcry that they haven't changed it enough. They just can't win, can they?

Well, in fairness, first off Microsoft had to build out a real server architecture... After that was all taken care of and stable, and they integrated the service into their products, I imagine they then could work on new and exciting features
