Tweak Msgr is an application that allows you to change hidden settings for MSN/Windows Messenger.

Settings commonly used by network/systems administrators in schools, or business’s using or want to use Instant Messaging as a communication tool. These settings do not exist with MSN Messenger 5. If MSN Messenger has been disabled at your school or work then this will most probably enable it!

I agree about MSN Messenger. But Windows Messenger looks way nicer (as long as you stay away from the "MSN-Plug-IN" which really just plug's-in an ad).

This info has been available for a while, @ WinGuides: MSN Instant Messenger Restrictions (All Windows) These restrictions are used to disable various features of the Microsoft MSN Instant Messenger client. For each restriction from the list below create a new DWORD value and set the value to "1" to enable the restriction. HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftMessengerClient for per-user basis HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftMessengerClient for per machine basis
DisableCollaborationApps DisableFileTransfer DisablePC2PCAudio DisablePC2Phone DisableVideo PreventAutoUpdate PreventBackgroundDownload PreventConsumerVersion
It's also listed here in this Microsoft document... http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/techinfo/administration/2000/Clntkys.doc I nullified this stuff a while ago for a friend in a large educational establishment, just by simply editing the main messenger executable to rename the words above to garbage letters, kinda stops this tool dead in it's tracks Mind you, there are always ways and means around such tricks...
