Downloaded now......the defult skin doesn't look 'new' or 'hot' for that matter. Actually it looks the exact same.
#7.1 Deepu Sudhakar on 03 Apr 2003 - 00:12
actually i can notice the difference. the interface is so much more crisp. the difference is especially noticable if you go to winshade modes.
#7.2 net-cruizer on 03 Apr 2003 - 00:30
It's a lot different. I got the new default skin from the Winamp site around a week ago, and switched between it and the old default, back and forth, and it actually is quite a bit different. I can even notice some fixes to it since then.
#8 mcb on 03 Apr 2003 - 00:00

Wont use it until it gets winamp 3 skins support.
#12.1 TooPackShaker on 03 Apr 2003 - 17:09
[neoquote=#12.0 by jardragon901]Wont use it until it gets winamp 3 skins support.[/neoquote] I hope this never happens, that would just bloat it and slow it down and I like all the buttons being in the same place all the time Ive been using this thing for about 5 years. Long live winamp! Winamp3 is not winamp
#13 Digital Oracle on 03 Apr 2003 - 00:26
As for Winamp3, everyone I used is crap excepts Build 491, which will actually memorise the playlist. So I say bu bye 3 and hello 2.90. Hope it doesn't suck other wise its back to 2.81 again
#14 mrk on 03 Apr 2003 - 00:27
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELA!
#15 Dominik on 03 Apr 2003 - 00:45
cool,i like it! btw, anyone knows full list of command line parameters for winamp.exe ?
#16 bangbang023 on 03 Apr 2003 - 00:58
I'm using this for the simple fact that there have been no official releases of winamp3 and this is something new to play with.
#17 123_kid on 03 Apr 2003 - 01:06
It's nice and all but I still can't play .nsv videos from winamp.com....oh well, I can fire up winamp3 when I need to watch them. Besides that, it's all that it's cracked up to be (the library is sweet).

(1 reply) #21 paulhaskew on 03 Apr 2003 - 02:48
can someone post a screen shot of the new skin, don't wanna overwrite till i see a pic, thanx...
#21.1 net-cruizer on 03 Apr 2003 - 03:17
It's way better. Just back up the "winamp.exe" file in the Winamp folder. If you don't like the skin, you can reshack the old one out of the old exe.
(1 reply) #22 INFERNO2k on 03 Apr 2003 - 03:20
Does not support Winamp 3 skins. Back to 2.81.
#22.1 net-cruizer on 03 Apr 2003 - 03:37
lol!!! neither does WA 2.81. WA 2.9 is awsome, who cares if it doesn't support WA 3 skins, they all suck anyways.
#23 Solarix on 03 Apr 2003 - 03:33
imo winamp 3 skins blow , specially the huge blobby ones
#24 Hills420 on 03 Apr 2003 - 03:52
I'm using 3.0b ....
#25 Mystical112 on 03 Apr 2003 - 03:54
coo 2.xx rules
#26 memNOC on 03 Apr 2003 - 03:55
yea still no wa3 skin support, but im thinking it will be in WA5.. this is one stable release, and everyone using 2.81 should definitelly upgrade.. you have nothing to lose anyway.. im still not comfortable with it playing videos, its gonna take time for me to adjust.. the tv station feature rocks and i hope we'll be seeing more of it in the future.. i dont know what everyone is talking about with the new default skin.. it looks same old to me.. and btw that ron's channel is kickass.. check it out at http://205.188.234.33:8030/;stream.nsv
(1 reply) #27 INFERNO2k on 03 Apr 2003 - 03:55
Whats this streaming thing people are talking about thats now built into 2.9?
#27.1 net-cruizer on 03 Apr 2003 - 04:04
The SHOUTcast radio stations. Right there in the Media Library. Hundreds and hundreds of radio streams to choose. Before you had to go to the SHOUTcast site to see the list, now you don't.
#28 Robert McClelland on 03 Apr 2003 - 04:44
Should I throw winamp3 away get 2.90? is more sable on dailup or doesn't buff to much. Sometimes winamp3 buffs alot for me.
#29 DsnBehind on 03 Apr 2003 - 05:16
What happened to the "53 betas" before final release?
#30 CheeseCow on 03 Apr 2003 - 05:17
sweet! I hope they scrap WA3 in favor of this baby.
(1 reply) #31 vetToxicfume on 03 Apr 2003 - 05:26
Different skin? I downloaded the standard version...I don't see any new skin, it's the original skin.
#31.1 net-cruizer on 03 Apr 2003 - 05:35
Maybe cuz you downloaded the Standard version, cuz I know Full has the new skin, and I know it's new cuz I compared both, by switching back and forth between the 2. The new one is a lot different. Same colors but still a lot different. Way nicer. Actually the old one was ugly, but I could handle using the new one as it is pretty nice. But I make my own skins anyways.
#32 guru on 03 Apr 2003 - 05:57
in the version history it says " updated to PP's latest input and output plugins" thought pp gave up on winamp
(1 reply) #33 pr0mpt on 03 Apr 2003 - 06:06
ehm, can anyone inform me on the changes yyou might see with the skin?! i just got the full version, but the skin is EXACTLY the same damned april fools crap the rest is quite stable and everything...will keep running 2.x on work machines, but 3.x rules on my home PC [got enough ram, don't give a $hit about it there] but I hate it when they lie about the skin.... was looking forward to a new one
#33.1 net-cruizer on 03 Apr 2003 - 07:56
Well I noticed a big difference. The equalizer part is probably the most noticable, bucuz the biggest changes are the slider tracks, like balance, volume, and each eq slider. They are a lot nicer looking now. edit- Hmmm, well I just checked again. To tell you the truth, maybe it's not as different as I made it out to be. Right now I am comparing both Base Skins. There is still a significan difference, the slider tracks are nicer, and the skin is lighter than it used to be, but all the text is a bit darker than it used to be. Also the Winamp logo is different. Old version was just the lightning bolt, now it's the actual logo, like the Winamp icon. I'm going by 2 screenshots I just did from 2.9 beta2 and the 2.9 final.

Awesome, even the videoplayer is better then WMP. With Winamp 2.90 I can actually 'scroll' through video's where it wasn't possible in WMP (both 6.4 and 9). Two thumbs up!! Easily the best you can get at the moment!!
#35.1 fubarshibby on 03 Apr 2003 - 07:04
the best you can get? try qcd... a new version was just released today and it's better than ever...
#35.2 Schmoove on 03 Apr 2003 - 07:09
I have QCD too, but I don't like it. Ugly interface.... that's what I like about Winamp 2.90, the interface... guess I'm just too used to it.
#35.3 fubarshibby on 03 Apr 2003 - 07:21
dl the skin "freeamp readable" it looks great and has all the features on it...
#36 riff on 03 Apr 2003 - 07:30
april joke????
#37 net-cruizer on 03 Apr 2003 - 09:37
I wonder if the Winamp site will start with the 2x series on the main page like before and set WA 3 on it's own. Now that would be cool.
#38 WishX on 03 Apr 2003 - 10:00
I replaced Winamp 2x and 3x with the latest version of JetAudio and I'm [I]still[/I] more pleased than I was with any build of Winamp.
#39 sengork on 03 Apr 2003 - 10:19
Finally they listened to users of winamp! This is MUCH better than winamp3
#40 mh508 on 03 Apr 2003 - 11:04
wohoooo ;-)
#41 sp0rk on 03 Apr 2003 - 11:10
I can't believe you guys can't tell the difference in the new skin. They smooth it down a WHOLE lot. It used to look like it was done in like 256 colors or something. http://sp0rk-tech.net/winamp2.jpg
#42 505 on 03 Apr 2003 - 11:54
They're airing movies on the IdealTest NSV. I'm watching About Schmidt now. Is this actually legal?
(1 reply) #43 Darrian on 03 Apr 2003 - 14:32
Sorry, but this is crap. The only thing I like about it at all is the video playback is more stable, but skins don't skin the video window. Call me when wa3 skinning is supported. Until then I'm sticking with winamp3. And the "new" default skin for wa 2.9 may be slightly different, but it still looks like complete crap. They should have just ported the wa3 default skin to wsz format.
#43.1 net-cruizer on 03 Apr 2003 - 15:31
Well you're right about that they should have ported the default WA 3 skin to WA 2, but as for skins not skinning all components, it's all up to the creator of the skin to do all components. Same as with WA 3, and from what I noticed is that WA 3 was definitely lacking at having all components skinned. Or the creator would make a nice lookin freeform skin, and then half @ss skin the components, so you were left with a mess of crap. WA 3 sucks.
#44 Toxikk on 03 Apr 2003 - 15:08
i like the new interface
