Following the release of the highly anticipated MouseWare 9.76 which finally allowed to assign all mouse buttons in games via a new game compatibility mode, Logitech now offers an advanced tweaker for their mice. It is called MouseWare Advanced Settings Utility (mwAdvanced.exe). This utility is designed to work with MouseWare 9.76 or above. Please verify you are using MouseWare 9.76 before downloading and using this utility.

Note: You may place this file any where on the systems hard drive but it is recommended that you copy or download it to the following location: C:Program FilesLogitechMouseWareSystem

Mouse behavior in some applications can be customized by adjusting some MouseWare settings. A simple utility, (mwAdvanced.exe) has been provided for such applications (i.e., games or CAD software), which makes it easier to adjust some MouseWare settings. Please note that this program only makes changes to the registry, it does NOT run in the background and is not a TSR, (Terminate Stay Resident) program.

We are looking for people that can communicate their ideas clearly and have an attention to detail. During the testing process you will have to explain to us how you found potential bugs and problems in the game and how to reproduce them. We will also ask for your views on game design and playability in order to improve the game.

The beta test will operate in a number of phases, with a large group of players working in concert to play the game. It will start early in the year 2002 in a closed beta testing phase with limited numbers of participants, later evolving into a larger community testing the game´s performance. We will initially select a small group, but will gradually increase the numbers of participants as the beta testing progresses. This gives participants several opportunities to contribute to the creation of EVE.

In one hand I'm not that impressed, it doesn't seem to do much (although some many find it useful, give it a try at least). On the other hand, there isn't really a whole lot needs doing. Some way to get my MX500 to have Mouse6, Mouse7 and Mouse8 buttons working in games (now that Mouse4 and Mouse5 do) would be nice. I don't see anything about that here, so I've still got them set to F6, F7 and F8 and I bind those - generally works fine.

I'm close to trying a MX500 again. Does this mean that I can use all buttons in games? Binding to the keyboard is fine as that is what I do now with my intellimouse explorer. What games have been tested?

The side buttons (back and forward) can be set in most games fine (not sure what ones fail exactly) since the 9.76 drivers. I've also found setting the buttons to keys work in all games (except ones which don't let you bind the F buttons which I use).

I used to use MouseWare but it gave me negative acceleration so I just use the drivers and not mouseware. Does anyone here know if this new MouseWare Advanced thing gets rid of negative acceleration? Thanks
