I'm still using CuteFTP 4.2 (I believe it came out in... November of 2000). I haven't found anything better since, not even the newer versions of CuteFTP. Everything in my opinion, seems overdesigned. I don't need to connect to five FTP sites at once, I don't need XP style menus or buttons, I just need an FTP client that gets the job done.

Yeah right. Tell that to software developers (make software with less features) and they'll laugh at you. It's a competitive market out there.. Anyways i've been using FlashFXP and then found out about SmartFTP and i liked it. I've tried using CuteFTP and i didn't like it at all.

XD

In many ways Filezilla is CuteFTP, and is what I use. I have used SmartFTP in the past. Sad, that I just figured out how it works. It has a very strange interface.

I use flashFXP, what is the best feature of SmartFTP? I thought flashFXP has got everything I can think of.
Quote this comment #4.1 Posted by Caleb on 09 May 2003 - 10:16
FlashFXP isn't bad, but SmartFTP is much better. SmartFTP has 3 queue systems (session queue, direct transfer, global queue). If the site you're connected to allows more than 1 connection per ip, you could download files WHILE browsing the ftp.. something that flashfxp doesn't let you do. SmartFTP allows unlimited ftp connections. Alot of Proxy features Advanced favorites Cool Custom Commands Explorer like interface when browsing the ftp (AWESOME!) and much more..

That and it's donationware. =) You don't need to pay for it, but if you feel that the author has done good, send him a few bucks like I did.

try holding down shift, then clicking the download link. that should force a new download so that you'll get the updated file

I use FTP in command prompt.
Quote this comment #9.1 Posted by nookadum on 09 May 2003 - 16:07
And...? People want it to be easy to browse FTP sites, command prompt isn't exactly user friendly.

[neoquote=#12.0 by XP-RTM]smartftp is the best, but their FTPs are slow as hell, lol [/neoquote] SmartFTP is a client. The reason why it's slow is because you're downloading from slow FTP servers.
