Microsoft describes Exchange 2003 as "the most reliable and secure version of Exchange Server to date." The product was developed with the same Trustworthy Computing coding principles used during the development of Windows Server 2003, meaning it is secure by design, secure by default, secure in deployment, and secure in communications, to use the company's now-familiar refrain. Primary functional improvements in this release include a completely revamped Outlook Web Access (OWA) client, which closely resembles and works like Outlook 2003; significantly faster synchronization between Exchange and Outlook 2003; new mobile device integration; a new HTPPS connection mode which negates the need for complex VPN access to the server; and a host improvements gained when the server is installed on Windows Server 2003, which adds support for better backup and restore methods and eight-node clustering.

From a pricing perspective, Exchange 2003 will cost the same as its predecessor, Exchange 2000, though it should be noted that customers will generally receive more bang for their buck with this release, especially if they are interested in deploying OWA. The product will be available in two editions, Standard and Professional, and will include licenses for the server, users, devices, and an external connector, which allows an unlimited number of external users to access the server.

What's up with the icon change?? I think I liked the new blue one better. O well. Still a good browser if you need an IE engine.

I tried avant a week ago and it was good, but I found it was an MyIE2 Knockoff. I like MyIE2 better.

so here: Avant is better, better then MyIE.. for ME

I think people who like Windows XP's bubbly themes are going to like Avant Browser and then people who use Windows 2000 and turn all the themes and shading off are going to like MyIE2. I personally can't stand all the extra eye candy which is why I like MyIE2 a lot better, it doesn't clutter things up.
    #10.1 razar on 02 Jul 2003 - 17:57
Both browsers use IE luna as the default theme.
    #10.2 OPaul on 02 Jul 2003 - 18:07
Avant has shading and 3d menus that can not be turned off while MyIE2 keeps it simple without all that useless stuff.
    #10.3 Jstphish on 02 Jul 2003 - 19:07
I use Avant over MyIE2 not because of the theming issues but because it works the way I want it to. MyIE2 is good but it just doesn't function the way Avant does, which is the way I like it. Ex. Clicking the middle mouse button functions as a scroll as well as opening links in a new tab, etc.
    #10.4 OPaul on 02 Jul 2003 - 19:26
MyIE2 acts the same way with the middle mouse button, it will scroll as a normal middle mouse button does and also when you click on a link with it it will open that link in a new window.

Avant now uses 5 different themes, some of which don't include the things you are referring to. You should try it out.
    #11 Sidespike on 02 Jul 2003 - 18:31
I posted this yesterday in the backpage news. I finally thought I might see my name to something I contributed, but someone else gets credit for it.

I love Avant Browser it truely adds some nice feature to the lacking regular IE.

I also tried MyIE2, but allways delete it and use the tried and true AB

    #12 Justin03248 on 02 Jul 2003 - 18:45
    myie2 sucks
    #13 KenR7A on 02 Jul 2003 - 18:51
myie2 is great! i just switched.... its the only browser that keeps the middle mouse button fuinctionality the same as IE. Example: press and HOLD to scroll, and then release to stop. Opera almost had it right, but you had to click again to stop.
    #14 SlowNeasy on 02 Jul 2003 - 19:26
Avant and MyIE2 are both excellent I like MyIE2 features better but Avant is noticeably faster for me.

    I used MyIe2 for a while.
The two things that pissed me off so much that i deleted it:
Cant theme the buttons, can only have the 9x look which i personally hate
the icons on the menu are all pixilated

Generally both of the browsers do almost the same thing, but Avant looks better in my view.
    #15.1 KenR7A on 02 Jul 2003 - 21:34
I downloaded plenty of themes.... all look great! buttons and all. nothing is pixelated either. Right now Im using a theme called Qute 1.1
    #16 mjames on 02 Jul 2003 - 20:49
All I can say is: Firebird.
    #17 DJ Specs on 02 Jul 2003 - 21:18
Ya.. the new red icon sucks!
    #18 bangbang023 on 02 Jul 2003 - 21:44
The new red icon is just the old red icon, suddenly it sucks, go figure.

I find Avant Browser better fit to my tastes. I have tried Mozilla, Firebird, MyIE2 and one other browser whose name I forget, but in the end Avant is the browser that best fits my usage needs.

Thanks for the contribution sullysnet, I do think that thes IE clones are great, they add tabs which alot of people like and they are as compatible as IE is with different web content.
    #20 facted on 03 Jul 2003 - 03:58
    A few things.

    1. red icon does suck
    2. so does MyIE2.
    3. who's to say MyIE2 is not a rip off of Avant?
    4. Avant has the default skin, but the new version actually implements up to 5 different styles + new skins that can be custom built for each style. You should all check it out.
    #21 Vice King on 03 Jul 2003 - 04:11
downloading right now... my fav. browser.. i've also tried Myie2 and it sucks... nothing compares to avant browser.

    #22.1 facted on 03 Jul 2003 - 17:58
I have been able to access the site. There are some users who have had some trouble. Try using a proxy server.
    #23 Galley_SimRacer on 03 Jul 2003 - 14:30
    I tried MyIE2; I was not impressed!
    #24 Al Mehairi on 03 Jul 2003 - 20:08
thnx i really like it I have been using it for 1week and its great
    #25 hardgiant on 03 Jul 2003 - 23:15
    another vote for Avant
    (1 reply) #26 Dwarden on 03 Jul 2003 - 23:30
I dont know how can be MyIE ripoff of Avant when so far i remember MyIE1 was older than Avant, when autor abadoned it he released code and lot of another tabbed browsers apeared, MyIE2 continues where original author stopped and it already offers some features Avant not. Real difference need someone who look at all details, but so far i found nothing in Avant what is not in MyIE2 already.

But all above change nothing on fact that NetCaptor is oldest (5.5y) and first tabbed browser. Opera, Mozilla and rest copied great idea ...

So calling Avant, MyIE2 ripoff each other is pretty laughly, there are much worse clones than top5 and they should be named ripoffs ...

Who gives a crap who copied who, a good idea is a good idea.

GM didn't invent the wheel but they make a damn nice living selling cars.
