Direct Connect offers a community-oriented, open, user-controlled network. Moreover, its network architecture is built on a peer-to-peer foundation; users run, control, and maintain the network. Users are able to share any type of file - absolutely no restrictions.

What's new:
  • The application now supports a ‘DC’ description tag - Configurable
  • 'Grant slots' was added to the user context menu. If a slot is granted to a user, that user may connect to you even if you are 'full' if they have not already done so
  • You can now refresh the public list from the connect window's toolbar
  • Operators now have icons
  • The application auto reconnects to servers it has been disconnected from after 5 minutes
  • The GUI display of the bandwidth cap is fixed to an 8x multiplier for upload/download ratio
  • Application now minimizes to the system tray

Direct Connect sucks.
I will stick to oDC/DC++.

thats like the same thing, isnt it, only more features in the program?
but i guess you are referring to the program, not the 'network'..

the option to cap the upload really sucks. This will be the leechers dream. Many hubs are now banning ALL nmdc clients because of this.

I'll stick to oDC instead. http://gempond.com/odc (always build on the latest dc++ core)

not really because if you wanna play an online game while having your P2P runing in background and people hoggin all your upload bandwidth... you gonna be lagging...

I will stick to DC++ although the new nmdc looks nice

One of the better things about DC and DC++ that I could see was the the lack of bandwidth throttling. Now they have added it, the networks will probably be like Kazaa with leechers leeching away while throttling their uploads to 2-3k ... Its called file sharing people, not file leeching. If you dont want people to 'share' your bandwidth, why should they share theirs with you and let you leech away ... Another thing I could see is that you had to share on DC/DC++ unlike kazaa and other netwroks, and some people are moaning about that, just reiterating what I said, its not a file leeching program, its a file sharing program.

*note* I do not condone P2P software, I am just stating my opinion that most users want everything for nothing *note*
