Hotmail Popper is a small application that allows you to check your Hotmail account e-mail from a normal POP mail client (such as Eudora). Unlike standard mail accounts which allow users to retrieve their e-mail through a POP mail client, Hotmail can normally only be checked on the web, or via Outlook Express. With Hotmail Popper, you can use your favorite POP mail client to retrieve your e-mail from your Hotmail account. In addition, Hotmail Popper allows you to send e-mails through Hotmail's service, as if it was a normal SMTP (outgoing mail) server.
Changes from version 2.0.3 to 2.1.0
  • Added Clear Log option to delete current contents of the log file
  • Fixed a sporadic crash for some user setups
  • Changed log file date stamps to use local time instead of UTC
  • Removed dependance on the Xerces library
  • Fixed issue with e-mail clients incorrectly re-prompting for username/password when Hotmail is down
  • Fixed issue where username was case-sensitive for Hotmail
  • Proxy password is now masked (both in the Options dialog as well as in the registry where it is saved)
  • The View Log choice now brings up the log file in notepad, since some systems do not have a program associated with log files
  • Hotmail Popper now prevents double instances of itself from running if it is launched multiple times
  • Fixed minor HTTP issues with some proxies

I also use this little app too. I've installed a POP3 connector on my Exchange 2003 Server and pointed that to Hotmail Popper. This allows me to download hotmail/MSN email and forward it to Exchange accounts. I works very well.

I have setup my own exchange 2003 server that is working just great. How I can install a POP Connector All I seen was a SMTP connector. I would love to have my eexchange server check my hotmail account and dump it into my exchange mailbox and the same with my wifes mailbox and her hotmail account. Can you point me in a right direction?

thanks,

MrXP

But it's better than web2pop (www.jmasoftware.com) that besides working with HotMail, also works with the main webmails providers?
Quote this comment #6.1 Posted by mipra on 14 May 2004 - 02:04

All you need for accessing your hotmail is the URL that you can easily get from OE.

I have been using this for a while. It will work with any email program, you just use the set up examples it gives you on the site. This is a must have for anyone who uses hotmail and doesn't want OE-that would be me- and it's FREE. What else could you ask for?
Quote this comment #12.1 Posted by mipra on 14 May 2004 - 02:04
hell it's free..who can complaint?

Outlook can retreive your Hotmail. Why install some crappy software with spyware?
