Roxio’s Easy CD & DVD Creator is the de facto worldwide standard in digital media software, evidenced by shipments of more than 100 million OEM units and 4 million retail units worldwide to date. The latest release includes functionality that enables consumers to make personal back up copies of non-protected or unencrypted DVDs, compress dual-layer DVDs and burn them onto DVD recordable media, automatically search for valid DVD-Video content on a hard drive, work with VIDEO_TS folders, and back up DVDs to recordable DVD media. Additionally Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.2 includes portable device support for WMDM compliant devices, over-burn capabilities to support 90 and 99 minute media, power management for laptops, and multi-lingual CD Text support.

is this software still popular? i tried it out but caused windows xp to bluescreen. i narrowed it down to the roxio software because i got a bluescreen shortly after installing it (never before) and after uninstalling it, haven't had one since :|

I have it running on two machines and it's been rock solid. Roxio always has nice features there just bloated as hell. Nero 6 got a little bloated themselves.

version 6.x is leaps and bounds better then version 5.x, I really love drag too disc and Roxio Retrieve.

When I bought my CD burner last year it came with Easy CD Creator 5 Basic and I was a bit skeptical about installing it on XP, but it worked perfectly for me from the very start. So I went ahead and bought the Platinum version and it has never given me any trouble despite the nightmare stories I keep reading about it. I had version 4 Deluxe before that and it was horrible. I thought about upgrading to version 6 but decided not to since what I have does everything I need and works fine. It doesn't really seem that bloated to me. It seems like if a program doesn't have a bare skeleton UI that looks like it came from Windows 3.1 people cry that it's bloated.

I have an 8x burner, but Roxio only seems to support up to 6x...
