Girder is the most powerful and feature rich Windows automation tool available. In its simplest form, Girder can be used to control programs like WinAmp or Windows Media Player using infrared and wireless remote controls. Girder can also be used to create much more sophisticated automation solutions. In Home Theater PC’s, Girder is used to control software (media/DVD players) and external hardware devices (X10 and serial devices such as projectors, projection screens, receivers). Girder receives commands (events) from a large selection of external devices and Windows applications. Programs are created using Girder’s event driven programming environment. Girder’s scripting language, Lua, provides a powerful (yet simple) way to create programs that can perform advanced tasks including database access, file operations, XML processing, and internet data retrieval. Girder has a large and active online community making it the most widely used and versatile automation tool of its kind.

Damn, it's about time they get a headline. I've been using it since 1 full years now. I can even play emulators with my remote control of my GeForceFX 5200.
