MSN Messenger is an instant messaging program that lets you send instant messages with cool emoticons, send pictures and other files to your friends, call a phone anywhere in the world from your computer, see when someone is typing a message to you, page a contact's mobile phone, and much more.

For: Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, and Windows XP.

Download: MSN Messenger 6.1.0207
News source: Microsoft Download Center

Two HD DVD format specifications are currently being promoted for standardisation. One is the ROM disc with 15GB of storage capacity on a single layer and 30GB on dual-layer media, and the other is a rewritable disc with 20GB of storage capacity. In November, the DVD Forum's steering committee approved the proposed HD DVD-ROM format in version 0.9.

The DO Unofficial Change Log

- Allows signing in over a network, without needing to retype your .NET Passport or password.

Bout the only different I could find with it, but hadn't really noticed any changed with it since build 6.1.0155 excepts MS forcing you to upgrade or banning your from used MSN 6

MS never tells
Quote this comment #2.1 Posted by bostonfax on 19 Dec 2003 - 03:48
So true... I hate MS for that makes you download stuff to see if there are any changes... And quite frankly I never see anything big.. The only BIG update was from 5 to 6...

"I will never tell"

bostonfax:

If you look at the version/build-no, it might give you a hint how "big" the changes are.
i.e. 5.x to 6.x is a bit "bigger" than 6.1.0203 to 6.1.0207

So to the "why only slam MS": I've worked with products from Adobe.. need I say more? Illustrator aso... Not to forget Corel Draw, now there's versioning inflation going wild...

That's so they can randomly change the build number and get everyone all excited...

The BETA version of MSN 6.1 closed all contact windows when you disconnected which was a pain considering the reliability of my school's wireless network but this "feature" was removed in the public release

I ought to mention this STILL HAPPENS on MSN Messenger for the Mac and is starting to give me an ulcer.

The WiFi Network here at work is not exactly reliable either, especially since a secretary tripped on the CAT5 and sent Wireless-G access point flying against a wall. Let's say it didn't help.

I would download this, but Penguin MSN isn't compatible with it yet.

Actually, I doubt it ever will be - Rolando retired from making skins.

Gonna download it now

Any body knows how to get over the "You are connected to the Internet through a UPnP port protected NAT. (Administrator)" message. I have a SMC7004BR Barricade router with the firewall enabled on it. Funny thing is that while testing the beta of MSN6 this never happened.

Any suggestions?
Quote this comment #15.1 Posted by noll3095 on 19 Dec 2003 - 15:18
Strange I've never seen that message even though I connect through UPnP on my Linksys router.
Quote this comment Reply to this comment #16 Posted by broo on 19 Dec 2003 - 09:45
I'll see if this works now, seing as the last version of 6.1 wouldnt connect here at work, yet 6.0 and less can (and older 6.1 versions too)

Can i resize windows as small as i like in this version? When I went from 6.0.0602 to 6.1 i could only make them as wide as the toolbar, no smaller than that. Until they bring this feature back I'll stick with 6.0

i have a P4 1.8ghz and 512mb ram and even with no programs/processes open MSN6 takes ages to sign in (up to 40seconds) and slows my pc down sometimes 'pausing' it.. WHY!?

does anyone know why. Im on dialup, but it used to sign in quick and on another pc i tried using the same line it signs in quickly.

thanks!
