A new Serv-U beta version, build 5.0.0.1, is available for download.

The directory contains two versions of the installer. If you have build 5.0.0.0 installed please download the updater, file ServU5b0To5b1.exe.
The updater is 1/4 the size of the full installer. The full installer can be found in file ServUSetup.exe.

This build fixes a bug in certain SQL statements Serv-U uses for ODBC domains. It also introduces support for auto-reconnecting to an ODBC datasource in case the connection is lost. A complete list of changes can be found in file Version.txt.

If you are using ODBC domains please give this build a good work-out. To accomodate the auto-reconnect changes this part of the code had to be reworked extensively. If you are using a remote ODBC source, please try if auto-reconnection works for you. Keep in mind that Serv-U will only try to reconnect about once a minute, to keep the load on the server down.

If you find bugs, please E-mail the information to (Rob@cat-soft.com)

PeopleSoft argues that an Oracle-PeopleSoft combination would leave too few competitors in the market for broad suites of software designed to automate accounting, human resources and manufacturing for the world's largest corporations. It claims prices would rise as a result. Oracle counters that the business applications market has too many rivals, including the formidable competitor Microsoft, which entered the market a couple of years ago.

Justice Department officials were not immediately available for comment.

There's better FTPd's out there, I personally never liked Serv-U, even if it were secure, which it isn't.
#2.3 facted on 15 Feb 2004 - 17:13
Just wondering, but why isn't it secure?

bulletproof FTP is awesome... use it... ioFTPD?
#5.1 facted on 16 Feb 2004 - 01:35
Maybe I'm dumb, but bulletproof FTP is an FTP client for you to connect to other FTP servers. It does not allow you to create an FTP server yourself. That's what Serv-U is for...

I've always liked Serv-U, a very clean and an understandble user-interface, has all the necessary features! I tried bulletftp and a few othes, I never really liked them, bulletftp's gui is ick!

Though I gotta try out ioFTPD
