Nice expandable program.

I'll stick to Winamp/MediaPlayerClassic combo tho.
#1.1 sdkaneda on 13 Mar 2004 - 17:32
that's the ticket
#1.2 demorgoron on 13 Mar 2004 - 18:08

#1.3 neoufo51 on 14 Mar 2004 - 00:06
Foobar2000 and Media Player Classic. Nothing beats it.
#1.4 Solarix on 14 Mar 2004 - 02:51
meh winamp for everything audio , media player classic for video
#2 Sushubh on 13 Mar 2004 - 17:35
looking good.
songs sound better than winamp on my cheap speakers...
inbuilt skin manager...
will use it for sometime for sure!
#3 Master MX on 13 Mar 2004 - 18:34
its the best, i dumped WMP and Winamp Pro for it. it rules.
#4 jesterzwild on 13 Mar 2004 - 18:35
Quite a capable media player; though, it's definately one who's creators should be grateful for third-party skins
#5 MrMunka on 13 Mar 2004 - 18:37
QPlayer is a great media player, thats all I got to say.
#6 blackspawn on 13 Mar 2004 - 19:04

QUOTE
Supirior Audio Quality

Compared to what? Mpg123?
#7.1 neoufo51 on 14 Mar 2004 - 00:24
Its just a generic comment to fool the stupid into thinking this is of unparalleled quality.
#7.2 bangbang023 on 14 Mar 2004 - 00:25
actually, the default mp3 decoder for qcd is better than the default one in winamp. BTW, I use winamp.
#7.3 neoufo51 on 14 Mar 2004 - 09:24
Nice try...from the Quinnware forums...

"I think_that the default QCD decoder sounds a bit tinny." -psaunder

"It ain't perceived - you're perceptive where many are not. Use MAD." -Roj

"I find MAD to sound superior to the default decoder in QCD in a way similar to what he described. According to that, I would say that MAD sounds superior." -#The fREaK!

"There's an interesting thread on Hydrogenaudio where an experienced french tester got interesting blind test results about sound quality of different decoders. QCD default decoder wasn't included though." - DareDevil

This is from QCD users on their own forum...and here is one more guy from the QCD forums on the subject from the guys at HA.

"They base their results on ABC/HR and ABX blind testings. On the contrary, Hydrogenaudio tries non-religiously approach these issues as you can see if you read what it's about. I see much more religion here. There's lots of experienced and smart people commenting in that thread. One of the guys is the replaygain developer David Robinson, PhD in signal and sound processing, who has also made the most comprehensive objective decoder testings so far, and so on.

To be honest I'm not surprised about these results; most people at Head-fi.org audiophile community also prefer Foobar's quality, so these blind listening test findings support that view."

And finally from an authority on the Hydrogen Audio forums...

"Many people who use the Quintessential Player say they choose it over other players because of its sound quality, and it would be good to find out just how much of their claims are not substantiated (well, actually, there is one guy in the Quintessential forums who is vehemently anti-ABX) and can be attributed to placebo.

I think this question can also be answered in the light of Guruboolez's recent test of dithering in certain decoders. I believe (IIRC) he mentioned that the MAD dithering produced the most 'pleasant-sounding' decodes, although Foobar2000's dithering is technically the most accurate."

Next time, do some research and read about other peoples ABX test results before misinforming other people on this comment board!

I don't see why people have their panties in a bunch about the audio quality of compressed music players. Compressed music is going to sound like crap on every player and system. It'll just sound less like crap the better the encoding/decoding is. The biggest influence on the quality of music is what encoding technique is used. Personally I find .mp4 (.aac) to sound superior to any other format (even .ogg). Most of the time I can't even tell it's compressed. Now Super Audio CD on the other hand is a completely different story (What will the next compression technique be?).

I use both Winamp and QCD Player. I was very satisfied with Winamp but I find skins for QCD alot more "cool".

foobar is the best imo :X
#9.1 Diablo on 14 Mar 2004 - 07:54
Indeed!
#9.2 neoufo51 on 14 Mar 2004 - 09:05
I second that...

This is great player with superb sound. I used to use it all the time but have settled in with winamp5 again. IT really ruled before iTunes came out for the PC.
#10.1 Mav Phoenix on 16 Mar 2004 - 22:07
Agreed.

This is a crappy player...If you want REAL quality, an incredible amount of plugins including one that lets you control your player using MOUSE GESTURES, yes, mouse gestures, use Foobar2000. Its only at version 0.8 and its already surpassed Quin player at pretty much everything.
#11.1 bangbang023 on 14 Mar 2004 - 02:53
why are you here troll? I see no bridges
#11.2 Mav Phoenix on 14 Mar 2004 - 04:08
^They make their own now-a-days.
#11.3 neoufo51 on 14 Mar 2004 - 08:57
I can be whereever I want, you halfwit, its called expressing opinions
#11.4 neoufo51 on 14 Mar 2004 - 09:26
You can also see how wrong you are up there in your earlier post. Stop misinforming people here...

Conclusion from HA forums...its decoder is "decent compared to winamp"

This is a post about QCD, not foobar. Again, I say, the DEFAULT decoder for QCD as compared to the DEFAULT decoder for winamp (mind you, I use winamp) sounds better to many people. It doesn't matter what tests tell me, it matters what I hear. We all hear and see and experience things differently. Many people, including myself, find the QCD DEFAULT decoder better than Winamp's.
#11.6 chacho on 14 Mar 2004 - 18:30
just a question....where can i find these plugins/skins/etc? ive tried searching, and i get a bunch of pages in foreign languages with only links to the program itself
#11.7 bangbang023 on 14 Mar 2004 - 18:42
the site itself has plugins and skins can be found directly in the skin browser in the program. It connects to the online database and lets you see all the skins that have been submitted to the official DB.
#12 klesh on 14 Mar 2004 - 04:54

dl and take a try
#13 Andre on 14 Mar 2004 - 16:53
talking about foobar.. will there ever be a video support?
#14 tiwaris on 14 Mar 2004 - 20:45
Does it beat Winamp+Dfx?
#15 Jstphish on 15 Mar 2004 - 06:22
Are the playlists expandable by the user yet? If not, then I still won't use it.
#16 ABC½ on 15 Mar 2004 - 15:44
Winamp and WMP9 all the way!
#17 ph_bradley on 15 Mar 2004 - 18:22

I finally get used to using Winamp 5 and I tried this player because of user recommendations. The user interface looks just like Winamp so I thought it'd be really user friendly. I was wrong. If it's going to look just like Winamp then it should run just like winamp. No excuses! If the makers of this player don't want to do this, then they should come up with their own interface.

Nice program but I'm going to stick with Winamp 5.
#18.1 Danrarbc641 on 15 Mar 2004 - 22:21
The interface looks just like Winamp? Maybe it vaguely looks like the default Modern skin, but QCD predates Modern by a couple of years so by your logic Nullsoft should have made it run like QCD.

I really don't see a similarity in the first place though
#18.2 bangbang023 on 15 Mar 2004 - 22:45
What? It looks nothing like winamp at all. What are you smoking man?
#19 hectorsr on 16 Mar 2004 - 00:23
I'll stick to Winamp, and the reason is..... global hotkeys!! I have a huge playlist and I don't need to show winamp on my desktop to change a song or to jump to a file while I'm working .....QC player should include this feature..

Also, Winamp5 lite..is less than 700 Kb..
(1 reply) #20 MitchShrader on 17 Mar 2004 - 06:07
winamp 2.91 + DFX = good enough to fool MY ears.. and it don't crash, and the price is right and i couldn't care less about skins, and i aint changing. ..
#20.1 NyaR on 20 Mar 2004 - 22:16
why not 2.95?
