- ok first off i love open source software.
but is it just me or does this program look like ass, takes ages to load and doesn't handle word, powerpoint, etc documents at all well!? what do you guys see in openoffice!? give me ms office 2k3 or even koffice anyday. -

- I've had no problems opening and editing any powerpoint, excel, or word documents in OpenOffice, and I've been using it for over a year.

- I like TextMaker better; it handles the word documents better than OpenOffice.org does. Also, it's very fast and small footprint. But, I haven't tried the PlanMaker (spreadsheet) yet so I don't know how it will work well with the excel documents. TextMaker isn't freeware, but I own FreeBSD and Linux version licenses.
Only thing that I like about OpenOffice.org is that it has nice export features such as export it to as PDF, HTML and etc.

- i want better graphics in it. like cooler buttons and stuff like that.

#7.1 Posted by Soleen on 21 Mar 2004 - 16:47
- Icons also do not look that attractive
but i ve been using it for over a year and for the free software, i do not have many complains about the GUI, it is still useble for me
I do not care about GUI if the software is handy. I however would love to see them to change buttons and icon sets...
Or may be make it even skinnible?

- Great news. So the final is near and I will probably wait for it. OpenOffice.org has become my default office suite on computes and I install it on all computes I build for others. All free and legal.

- It's big, slow and ungly. But it is all we've got. And it does have potential. The "PowerPoint" application is pretty powerful, and it can export to flash. Yay.
Those who say "ugly" could have a look at the Ximian edition, it was said to be merged into the "standard" branch at some point. And when will OO.o 2 roll out?

- Where can I read a changelog highlighting major changes between 1.1.0 and 1.1.1?
