- First OpenOffice.org and now this. It looks like it is a great day for me today. Miranda IM is just awsome. Small and fast and with a lot of options. Using it a lot for Jabber and sometimes for ICQ. The new message dialog looks very nice. Keep up the excellent work.

- What the hell, I've been using nightly's 0.3.4 for the past few months.
Isnt this a bit outdated then? -
#4.1 Posted by jim-phelps on 21 Mar 2004 - 15:15
- I'm sure you were using a 0.3.3 nightly
-
#4.2 Posted by mimeryme on 21 Mar 2004 - 15:16
- I only started using the nightlies recently and I thought they were actually 0.3.3 nightlies, but the about box does say 0.3.4 alpha nightly.

- Has anyone been able to import message history and contacts from ICQ 2003b build #3916? I haven't been able to and the second I can figure out a way, I'm jumping ship. This is a great client.

#9.5 Posted by sadatkarim on 21 Mar 2004 - 18:56
- i checked miranda support forums..and they said if youre having problems with aim connecting, to use this server: 64.12.163.214
worked for me.
-
#9.6 Posted by MaxPayne1357 on 21 Mar 2004 - 22:33
- aim support in miranda is solid. if you are having trouble connecting to aim it is most likely either; a) user error b) server side issue
you might try logging in/out a couple times. -egodust from the miranda forums said aim/toc was having trouble authorizing clients atm.

- Yes miranda kicks gaims and trillians azz =)
-
#13.1 Posted by Mav Phoenix on 21 Mar 2004 - 22:36
- Yeah maybe when they start using the AIM Oscar protocol...
-
#13.2 Posted by MaxPayne1357 on 22 Mar 2004 - 00:44
- I see oscar more of a downside then an enhancement to whats currently there. why fix whats not broken? Aol doesnt support or approve of 3rd party clients connecting to their closed protocol. That is why when they make changes to the oscar infrastructure, 3rd party clients get locked out. TOC ,the other method of connecting to aim is free for all to use and requires no knowledge of reverse engineering but most importantly is stable. I wonder if trillian will adopt this method of connection as a fallback when/if aol decides to block them again. You may read up more on the difference between these 2 aim protocols by clicking here

#13.3 Posted by Mav Phoenix on 22 Mar 2004 - 03:00
- Features are missing due to TOC, and that's all I care about. Thanks for the link though.

- Miranda will be banned from Connecting to AIM soon. In the version of AIM that just came out AOL Modified their terms of service to reflect the banning of 3rd party clients connecting to the service. Expect the change soon.

#20.1 Posted by MaxPayne1357 on 22 Mar 2004 - 00:54
- yeah right, how long have they been saying this now?
i gotta ask where u picked up this bit of misinformation. -
#20.2 Posted by LordLOC on 22 Mar 2004 - 02:00
- Yeah, I haven't seen any mention of this on the miranda forums at all. Just that alot of ppl are having login problems with the AIM plugin, but it's on AOL's side not the programs.
-
#20.3 Posted by [Thrice] on 22 Mar 2004 - 12:50
- no crap its on aol's side because they are blocking the program smarty.
-
#21 Posted by toematoe on 22 Mar 2004 - 09:10
- actually not only aim has been saying that. so did yahoo and msn... and wat did we see in changes? none lol yah who cares as long we are able to connect to all the im around with miranda. why not.

- does yahoo work for you guys?
-
#23 Posted by LordLOC on 23 Mar 2004 - 00:13
- Yahoo is working fine for me, as is AIM now.
As I said earlier, it was a problem on AOL's side and Yahoo's side. So until a proper announcement is made, or a news post is made, or any proof is given of AOL cutting off 3rd party programs, I'll keep using Miranda.
