- Me either. WMP owns winamp anyway. I don't like the interface, don't like the features...et al. WMP does just fine.

it will play music YOU rip under iTunes but NOT copy protected music from the iTunes music store. Already tested and confirmed.

Wow good catch, divertom. I'm glad, and I'm sure everybody else is glad too, that that POS is no longer in the installer.

- When they remove all bloat****e i'll switch back from foobar...
Personally i can't understand why they implemented cd-burning and audio-ripping when there are lots of other programs doing it better...
Whatever... why do i care, don't even use it anymore

All of you are no less fool than him if you say the opposite...
WMP sux and WINAMP all the way.
I personally disagree with both, but I would not call anyone fool or whatever if some one disagrees a says that Foobar sux, or anything like this. -

- I was stumped too. Hit the "defaults" button. It added them in for me then. Thank god too I hated using a plugin for something so simple.

QUOTE made MP4 AAC the new default ripping encoder
Is this a standard or the same as Apple and Real's altered versions.

#20 Posted by memNOC on 26 Mar 2004 - 00:41
- i just love the new extended "Jump to file" plugin.. ENQUEUE FINALLY FOR WA2!!1 one of the only features i missed from WA3, really.. well that, and tabbed playlists, but the Modern skin sorta has that function.. still not as usable as in WA3 (where you had the tabs right there), but it's definitelly an improvement..
if this thing keeps getting better, i just might switch from fb2k.. as long as there's a tbar_foo equal, that is.. tbar_foo is THE greatest plugin for ANY media player EVAARRR!!!

#26 Posted by Bugu on 26 Mar 2004 - 07:46
- Does anybody run this without admin rights? I'm having a lot of trouble getting it to run, seems it needs write access to files in the program folder (now that's a big Windows design guidelines nono, and enough of a reason not to be able to run this without admin level rights). I guess it's the media library... Why doesn't it just store that under %userdir%Local SettingsApplication DataNullsoftWinamp or whatever? Now I have to use WMP because WinAMP just won't run

-
#27 Posted by dangereuxjeux on 26 Mar 2004 - 13:38
- Hmm... as for the iTunes comment, yes, it will play iTunes MusicStore files. There is a plug-in on the site for it. And the experimental WMP9 support seems to be working so far for me, playing the DRM'd files from a pay site.

- 26 MB in RAM !!! why does it need to be so huge

That means it takes longer to load.
And the fact that you still can't drag a video window by clicking on the video itself ... pfff

- This version does not show the PLAYLIST in the playlist editor.

Winamp is a fast media player for Windows, not only does it play MP3 but a range of other formats including video. Version 5 features the best that Winamp v2 and v3 had to offer and I must say, it made me go back :)
This one isn't on the 'official' site yet, but you can grab it here in both flavors, Lite and Full.. Like most software these days, registering it will get you more advanced options like Unrestricted CD Burning, MP3 Encoding and Unrestricted CD Ripping.
