Tag&Rename is a powerful, easy-to-use program for organizing and archiving your library of music files. Its solid design handles most popular music formats: mp3, wma, ogg, m4a, etc. With this utility, you can quickly and easily rename your music while also editing the embedded tag data used by software and hardware music players. Tag&Rename makes it easy to edit existing tag information, update for new tagging standards, or write tags for music files which had no previously embedded tags.
New features in this beta version:
  • added APEv2 tags support (mpeg plus, monkey’s audio, wav pack and optim frog formats)
  • added mp4 files tags support (tested with Nero mp4, Real mp4 and Easy CD-DA Extractor mp4 files)
  • added support for new frames: Rating, Mood, Disc #, Orchestra, Conductor, Lyricist, Original lyricist, File page, Artist page, Source page, Radio station name, Radio station page, Buy CD page, ISRC #, Label title, Catalog #
  • added option to save ID3v2 tags data in Unicode
  • redesigned program toolbars
  • a lot of minor changesadded

Unfortunately for these folks, Tagscanner is not only free, but does everything this program can for the most part.

Except supports Allmusic.com. I don't want to use freedb where everyone can submit their own interpretation of how to spell song and names. With freedb I get 10 albums to choose from and the only difference is the spelling or capitalization of letters...no-no!

tag & rename supports a lot more formats as well

Best app of its kind on the market. I wish I had discovered it sooner than a few months ago.

So I am not alone with the whole capitalization of letters thing? Because I honestly hate when people capitalize "Of" or "The" when it is not at the beggining of the song.

When it comes to song titles, ALL words should be capitalized, or so says "Mr. Anal".

I use ID3 Tag-It. It's free and it works like a charm. Looks alot less cluttered too.

if you haven't used the allmusic.com feature it is really what sets this program apart from all the others, honestly i've tried them all. its really the best feature in the whole program and much more attention should be paid to it.

WMP doesn't seem to read the Album Art from tracks if tagged by Tag&Rename...
finally my search ended with Helium2... damn neat software it is... does all that Tag&rename does and more...

check it out @... Helium 2

This is definately my preference for a tagging utility. The AllMusic.com support, renaming features, album art & review, and program speed have always impressed me. If you haven't tried it, check it out.
