Thanks elliot, and cswadner from the forum for notifying us about the release of Messenger Plus 3. Here's what Patchou, the author, has to say about it:

"It's now official, Messenger Plus! 3 has finally been released! It took me 5 months to redesign all the software and I can tell you that I'm very happy with the result. As you can see, msgplus.net is also brand new and will continue to be updated during the week. All the sections have been rethought, new feature pages have been added, new merchandise is available for Messenger Plus! 3... soon, the site will even include localized content for the main pages! a new software, a new web site, both of them still as free as ever: what more could you ask? :)" -Patchou

Gran Turismo 4 Prologue (PS2)
This budget-priced preview version of the much-delayed Gran Turismo 4 was originally a Japan-only title but multiple delays of GT4 proper have forced Sony's hand into releasing Prologue across PAL territories. The demo features 46 driving tests and 64 different cars, along with a bonus disc that features a 'Making of GT4' movie and a message from GT creator Kazunori Yamauchi. Ooooo.

Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition (PS2)
The Street Fighter series is the best collection of 2D beat-'em-ups of all time and this compilation features every Street Fighter II character, move and combo in one huge fight-fest. And at just £19.99, it's an absolute steal.

Red Dead Revolver (PS2, Xbox)
A thrilling escape into wild west third-person rootin' tootin' shootin' fun. It's been a long time coming, having been taken on by Rockstar after Capcom shelved the title, but it's been worth the wait. Oh yes.

Disgaea: Hour of Darkness (PS2)
A strategy RPG (think Final Fantasy Tactics) that probably isn't for those who aren't already fans of the genre but a fine title for anyone who is. Seeing as it's very Japanese in flavour and full of humour, fans may be able to forgive it for not being the most beautiful of beasts.

Smash Court Tennis 2: Pro Tournament (PS2)
This series has produced some cracking racquetainment and this instalment delivers where it should. Above all, you just can't beat a spot of four-player tennis. Those disposed to sports titles should give this a good look.

Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkaban (PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, PC, GBA)
The latest action-adventure romp in the Harry Potter series allows you to play as Ron and Hermione for the first time. Of course, you still get to be Harry as well as using the specialised skills of the other two teenage tricksters. The PS2 version is the pick of the bunch thanks to its EyeToy compatibility.

I agree..... you hardly see any post that say it's bad, and if you do, it's usually something stupid that's just a rumor and hasn't actually been proven. Most of the time they haven't even looked at Msg Plus!

Back to my point, I love it too! We've all waited so long for this, but I think it's better to wait and get GREAT software than have crapy releases every time you turn around. Good job Patchou. By the way, does it say anywhere how to pronouce his name?

Can someone post a direct link to the download for me? My ISP must have a gay firewall on, because I can't access the site, and my other friends on this ISP can't either.

Thanks.

No, all firewalls are metrosexual.

lol
#5.4 MikeS2k on 23 May 2004 - 11:41
which is the same thing as gay as far as I'm concerned.
Plus! 3.00.92 seems pretty cool anyway especially the option to rename contacts
#5.5 Foub on 23 May 2004 - 13:31
Now, why would you post such a homophobic comment?
#5.6 Yvo on 23 May 2004 - 17:22
because neowin is a community age 13 (legally) and up and when i was 13 i called everything gay too.
#5.7 Foub on 23 May 2004 - 19:25
In other words they are trying to compensate for their own doubts about their sexuality.
#5.8 imtoomuch on 23 May 2004 - 19:53
You guys knew what he meant by "gay." There's no need to get all flustered over a simple word and call him homophobic just because he used the word gay in a way you didn't approve of. I laugh when people get so uptight and politically correct.
#5.9 DJ Specs on 23 May 2004 - 22:34
No kidding.. when I was a kid I always called things that were dumb, gay. It had nothing to do with Homosexuals. i dont even think I knew what gay meant other than dumb. So the people who are getting bent on this are the ones acting all gay about it.
#5.10 DarKnight on 24 May 2004 - 01:30
Exactly.

Gay used to mean being "Happy" but then people started looking at it as the same sex loving each other.

So, by saying gay I meant "Stupid"

It truely is sad that people go so nuts over such a tiny little comment.

Anyway, MP!3 is great.
#5.11 BOOGSoftball™ on 28 May 2004 - 14:18
I'll have to give it a try.....MP3, not ghey love.
#6 riahc3 on 23 May 2004 - 08:02

#9 tanshu on 23 May 2004 - 08:33
Thanx ... will try Messenger Plus! never used it before, but once i read the review of version 3, decided to get it.
#10 Daimaah on 23 May 2004 - 09:14
Definately worth downloading
(1 reply) #11 mko on 23 May 2004 - 09:35
Just to remind ppl, GO THROUGH THE INSTALLER slowly. If you go through it quickly, install the spyware and then are forced to uninstall and install without it, don't come bitching about how Patchou put spyware into his software, but you and only YOU are to blame for not reading through.
#11.1 Tochjo on 30 May 2004 - 19:01
Actually, it doesn't contain spyware at all. It contains adware: way less harmful

(2 replies) #32 Patchou on 23 May 2004 - 16:22
Note: 3.01.04 doesn't exist, don't search for it, it's probably something that will install bad stuff on your computer.

Thanks for the comments everyone. And no, if you select "I Refuse" in the Sponsor Agreement window while installing, the sponsor is not installed, don't worry about it (R-Style must really have something against me forsome reason, just ignore him :p)
