Yeah, I thought the same thing when I saw the $100 price tag. For a software DVD player.

Can't see if they have free upgrades or not.

got it and i like this, loads much faster than previous builds of v5 and trimension is neat, makes the movie look smooth like a DV-movie but may irritate some so just leave it off :p

that SCREENSHOT is rather wrong too, 6.0 looks like this, that screenshot is 5

the animated gif creating sequence is neat too!

Good to hear it starts faster. I might try it. Version 5 is realy really slow to load.

A friggin' DVD player costs less than this piece of crap. Might as well get a DVD player that plays Divx and xVID than buying this rip off.

I was thinking the same thing.

heh why use an extra software player like this when you can simply use WMP? and if its features you want there is the powerdvd SE plugin for WMP. now if you dont like WMP then.. well.. ok.

winDVD is probably the BEST windows DVD player with BEST quality audio and video of them all and I've owned all the bigger brand dvd players from powerDVD XP to this and i much prefer this :p

It's ugly, overly bloated and damn expensive
After WinDVD 3.1 the whole software went downhill. I rather use PowerDVD (which came with both my videocard and my dvd drive).

BLOATED? HOW?

LOLLERSKATES, some people ccrack me up.

the ONLY thing windvd 5 and above install other than windvd is interactual player but that is easily removed by clicking the uninstall icon in its folder and everything else is very worth it in windvd.
#8.2 Schmoove on 06 Jun 2004 - 18:23
Bloated in a way of a clumsy 'bloated' interface with buttons everywhere (of most of the buttons it isn't even clear what they do at first sight).
#8.3 mrk on 07 Jun 2004 - 01:13
i dont see buttons everywhere...every one of those buttons are for a specific use and are used regularly... - keyboard shortcuts manage the rest

Can someone who's using it, tell what the advantages are over PowerDVD. I've thought about buying WinDVD for some time now. I'm using PowerDVD now (came with my DVD-Drive or Video-card, can't remember)
#9.1 mrk on 06 Jun 2004 - 17:45
powerdvd xp doesnt always return master volume levels to their user set defaults, powerdvd xp often breaks on SVCD playback but vcd is fine. MVCD and XVCD also do not playback correctly all the time.

PowerDVD XP seems to offsync DIVX/XVID sometimes but its a dvd player so doesnt really matter.

DVD navigation and smoothness is nicer on windvd, to get the same quality i had to enable hardware mode in powerdvd whereas windvd beats image clarity abd contrast using just intervideos software decoder and colour renderer

$100? Jesus, devs, that's friggin' EXPENSIVE!

It costs $500 for DVD Studio Pro for Christ's sake. They're saying it takes 1/5 the development 'costs' to make a PLAYER?

EDIT: Their web site says $69.99. Where did $100 come from?

EDIT^2: $100 is with a REMOTE. The software ALONE is $69. That's not too bad.

I have no idea how they got $100.00, you go to Intervideo's website and it sites it for $69.95, remember this is the Plantinum edition, besides if you own 5.0 it will cost you $30.00 to upgrade...
#13 Pierreken on 07 Jun 2004 - 06:34
That would be 39$ right?
