I'd recommend all readers (asides from using the programs) to upgrade to these new versions; they have a bunch of new fixes that missed the 0.9 and 0.7 releases.

"Mozilla.org today released upgrades to both Firefox 0.9 (0.9.1) and Thunderbird 0.7 (0.7.1) to fix some minor bugs present in both releases. Both releases correct some flaws in the Extension System that some users may have been experiencing, as well as a new icon set for the navigation toolbar on Windows and Linux in Firefox 0.9.1. All users of both products should get this upgrade. Builds are available for Firefox 0.9.1 and Thunderbird 0.7.1, as well as updated release notes (Fx, Tb) for both."

Man!! Not bugs and flaws in Firefox!! Impossible.
#5.1 CheeseCow on 29 Jun 2004 - 21:45
The word "bugs" is slightly misused, as the "Bugzilla" is used to file enhancement requests, as well as minor (like this) bugs, and major bugs.

I am impressed by the speed of this release, and would again like to remind you that this is a unstable version. Firefox is not yet at its first milestone.
#5.2 ubugmetoo on 30 Jun 2004 - 08:33
Rather have bugs then IE anyday.

I'm downloading it now ...got one question, will it make my current themes/extensions broken? (currently using 0.9)
#7.1 [ timko ] on 29 Jun 2004 - 11:26
It shoudn't do since it is just such a minor revision... +0.0.1 but if it does you can blame them

Try turning off checking for Firefox Updates, because internally they haven't bumped the program up to 0.9.1 so that extensions should have less problems.

menu Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Software Update -> uncheck Firefox.

don't work
#10.5 Acid on 29 Jun 2004 - 18:57
Yeah .. it still shows up. Probably a problem with their server.
#10.6 tvadakia on 02 Jul 2004 - 02:06
It's because the installer doesn't adjust the config file for the Gecko build number/version. If you go to "About Mozilla Firefox" you'll see that it's still at .90 instead of .91.

You could do this for a fix: in the address bar type in

about:config

then scroll down untill you see app.version in the left-hand side. Doublt click on this line and enter the new value of 0.91 hit enter. Do the same thing for general.useragent.vendorSub. Restart your browser and you're good to go.

#12.5 inziga on 02 Jul 2004 - 06:13
And people are still getting the message even after unchecking. Calling names in not called for.

It then tells you how to fix it Via "about:config"....."Dork" is name calling?

what? bugs in pre-1.0 software? ridiculous and unacceptable!

i'll stick to my software that still can't render pages properly and leaves my system wide open to spyware and exploits even past version 6.0.
#14.1 deftools on 29 Jun 2004 - 15:20
haha good one
#14.2 PukiMan on 29 Jun 2004 - 21:25
It's the firefox that can't diplay pages properly and ****ed up my system.
After installing FireFox all the time i tryed to use it, i was able to use it like 6 minuts and then it diisconected my cable modem.
To go back online i needed to do restart
So i just deleted FireFox and now it's all normal and all the pages diplay normaly
The only users who got problems with IE is the onc who surf some stupid ass sites with "free porn" programs, and press YES avry time.
#14.3 deftools on 30 Jun 2004 - 08:53
lol.. it looks like your system was ****ed, cos no one else seems to be having such problems
#14.4 zivan56 on 30 Jun 2004 - 17:49

Folks, don't forget to uninstall previous versions before upgrading, that prevents most problems (including the infinite update loop). You don't have to delete the directory though during uninstall (at least, I didn't on 3 systems, and everything is working fine, plugins, themes & extensions included).

Hmmm... the Thunderbird installer seemed to work fine but the Firefox install still had that bug where it shows colour/desktop wallpaper over the installer just behind the text. It's great software, but if the installer makes it to final like this then it will put off a lot of newbies. [It's not just my computer - most screenshots on the web show the same problem on the last stage of the install]
#18 Stingray on 29 Jun 2004 - 17:36
Working great.
#19 nic on 29 Jun 2004 - 17:55

Definitely works better on my system than 0.9RC...can't wait for the final!

To solve the update bug :

Another bug that some of the users may be bitten by, is the fact that Firefox
stores update data, so it'll continue to prompt you on startup.. For those of
you who have this problem:

1. Go to about:config
3. filter update.app
2. Right-click and reset each of these back to defaults
update.app.AppDescription, update.app.updateURL, update.app.Version, and
update.app.UpdatesAvailable
3. Restart Firefox.
That should clear Firefox from thinking there's an update. and stop the prompt
from appearing on startup.

I'm downloading right now.

If I get that problem I will try that solution. Thanks!

Yup. I'm sold. I still need IE for some work applications and development, but for everything else I now use FireFox.

Sweeeeeet!

Used to be die hard IE.... Tried a few other browsers, soon as this one was released @ .8 haven't used anything else...

Browing/Surfing is fun again...

For those who haven't grabbed it yet, get Abblock extension HERE
Adblock Home Page

Gotta love that thing... Next best thing since Pop-up blockers...
#30.1 [ timko ] on 30 Jun 2004 - 16:41
The firewall that I use (Outpost) has had very similar functionality as that extension for years but it will be good to have it actually in the browser, thanks for the link Quicks

Is there anyway to export (or keep elsewhere) you e-mail messages in thunderbird?

If yes, how?
