Building on the success of the Warcraft® series, Blizzard hopes to expand the MMORPG genre by creating a deep, immersive, user-friendly experience that will appeal to both veteran gamers and casual players alike. World of Warcraft™ takes place three years following the aftermath of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne™, when a great tension has settled over the ravaged world of Azeroth. As the various races begin to rebuild their shattered kingdoms, new threats, both ancient and terrifying, have arisen to plague the world once again. Players must explore the lands of Azeroth, forge fellowships with other players, and build their strength in order to prevail. World of Warcraft™ will be fully localized into French, German, and English in Europe.

Best known for blockbuster hits including the Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo series, Blizzard Entertainment (www.blizzard.com), a division of Vivendi Universal Games, is a premier developer and publisher of entertainment software renowned for creating many of the industry’s most critically acclaimed games. Blizzard’s track record includes eight #1-selling games and multiple Game of the Year awards. The company’s free Internet gaming service Battle.net® reigns as the largest in the world, with millions of active users.

installed - it's working well, although something funny happened to my Admin CP - a few letters got scrambled. nothing major.

Lots of bugfixes!

That happened to me going from -DR5 to PF1 as well.

Try uploading all of the files in sources/admin and all of the language files. That fixed the admin panel errors.

I'm assuming Neowin will be upgrading to 2.0 once it goes final right?
#4.1 BTallack on 08 Jul 2004 - 02:28
That's the plan. (as far as I know anyway... unless they changed the plan on me.)
#4.2 Neobond on 08 Jul 2004 - 09:19
we will be upgrading to the final yes
#4.3 neoufo51 on 09 Jul 2004 - 12:03
excellent...I'm using hydrogenaudio and they are using 2.0. Very nice although the bugs are a bit annoying. Graphically and functionality-wise though...very very good.

I see that a lot of the members of the Invision Power Services forum have Gmail accounts...

#5.2 REBELinBLUE on 08 Jul 2004 - 12:58
That me do (I'm Stephen on the IPS Team btw)

It just happened that a few people got invites, so shared them. Then when others got invites they shared them and so it went on there was a 35 page topic about it, plus a couple in the customer only forum
#5.3 Big Brother on 09 Jul 2004 - 23:00
Neowin.net has had a 250+ page topic about it.
#5.4 REBELinBLUE on 11 Jul 2004 - 13:06
Yeh, we closed the topic after it became apparent that the people posting were just people searching the Internet for invites and had no interest in becoming part of the community

Had it since last Thursday/Friday. My AdminCP was messed up too... nice thing of having it registered... one trouble ticket and its fixed if you provide your info.

I've always been wondering why would I pay for a portal/board system when there are many free solutions around...

Because a paid-for-used board is more fast, stable and secure. I wonder if IPB is really fast, stable and secure.

Why wonder when you use it every day you visit Neowin.

Just my opinion, but from working with both VBulletin 3.0, and IPB2.0, IPB2.0 beats the pants off VBulletin IMO. Of course, they both can be modded to use the features each innovated upon, so why not take the free one.

hmm... went to paid eh? I havn't kept up on this for awhile, but looks like I will have to go elsewhere for forum software...

Appricate the hardwork guys, I just can't afford your price.
#9.1 Danrarbc641 on 08 Jul 2004 - 17:43
It's still free, they call it an unlimited trial almost as a reminder to pay for it if you really find it's become important to your site and you finally have the money for it months, or even years, later.
#9.2 Tech_8356 on 08 Jul 2004 - 19:28
So one will be able to download the final for free with the option to purchase? Sound kinda like the Winzip 9.0 "evaluation version" that nobody registers
#9.3 paulhaskew on 08 Jul 2004 - 20:56
i actually bought that one... it was only $20... and the 8 license works with the 9...
#10 nX07 on 08 Jul 2004 - 19:54
Looking VERY Good so far, can't wait for the final release!!
#11 Destian on 08 Jul 2004 - 22:16

WARNING TO ANYONE UPDATING FROM IPB 1.3: The updater script is a pos, it didn't install the IPB 2.0 skin like it should have. I had to get an export from a fresh install on my local server and then upload to my webserver.
Just thought that was worth mentioning.
#12.1 ZaheerChothia on 09 Jul 2004 - 09:04
So how exactly do you do this? It seems to have partially converted the (default - unmodded) IPB 1.3 skin but not completely.
#12.2 compman on 11 Jul 2004 - 15:26
I have a post on my forums about this very problem. click here.
That thread should explain it, guest posting enabled.

Did they actually fix the post tracking issue? Where you click the link in your notification email, and it will bring you back to your last post? Or is it still the same, it just brings you to the topic, and lets you find your last post by yourself?
#13.1 REBELinBLUE on 09 Jul 2004 - 17:33
Matt fixed that

As for the people saying about bugs in the upgrade script, why not report it so it can be fixed?
#13.2 DJ Specs on 09 Jul 2004 - 18:45
Thanx.. I sure hope so.. I will be so happy!
#14 Haldo on 13 Jul 2004 - 01:42
Is it just me??? I see there complete phpBB forum, only with some graphics and layout change and added some hacks. I don't see reason why to download and use this when you can use phpBB forum with tons of hacks to customize your board. You can find it @ www.phpbb.com
