winamp 2.95 was the best version of winamp imo.. now ive moved on to better things
Get with the future, there is NOTHING wrongwith 5.04.
Its like saying, I dont like XP with hotfix XXX ecause they fixed some bugs.
Get with the future, there is NOTHING wrongwith 5.04.
Its like saying, I dont like XP with hotfix XXX ecause they fixed some bugs.
although i use 5.xx, many still use 2.xx because it had good file support, yet was extremely lightweight. the 3.xx series was dog ****, and so they made 5. some people still dont like 5 because they dont need the video support and think it makes it bloated. i tend to disagree, but to each his own.
But they really got it right with Winamp5 - it really is a superb piece of work, and worthy of bearing the Winamp name
The point is, even though I'm being a bit hypocritical since I can't be arsed to downgrade back to 2.9x, whether you believe it or not winamp 5 is slower than winamp 2. This isn't a biased view based on winamp3 (which I know is a totally different product) or what I think winamp 5 is doing, it's just what I've found.
http://www.foobar2000.org/FAQ.html
No. Most of "sound quality differences" people "hear" are placebo effect (at least with real music), as actual differences in produced sound data are below their noise floor (1 or 2 last bits in 16bit samples). Foobar2000 has sound processing features such as software resampling or 24bit output on new high-end soundcards, but most of other mainstream players are capable of doing the same by now.
So at least it's a moot point to argue which player is better. In the worst case scenario they all sound the same.
That quite rocks!
But i'm used to the handling of WA...
@T-Metal: You are right on.

Edit: Woohoo! They finally "fixed visualization when playing CD tracks". Hopefully it will have better beat detection with CDs now.
Did they remove the eMusic offer from the install? I didn't see it.

well thanks for that troll.
In winamp go to,
Options/Preferences/CD Ripping/Output File Settings/Specify the naming convention for ripped tracks: <Artist><Album>## - <Artist> - <Title>
In the Example ripped file filename: U2The Joshua Tree10 - U2 - Exit.m4a
What this will do is keep your winamp Library nice and neat.
<Artist>"back slash"<Album>"back slash"## - <Artist> - <Title>
Back Slashes don't wont to show?
enjoy.

EDIT: From Justin Frankel's website:
"It looks like Winamp's development is going to be really dead soon, since
everybody who has directly worked on it is either gone or will be gone soon.
Maybe it will get un****ed, I sure hope so."
