The Sorting Office has a new flow chart style front end, which really simplifies the management of message filtering.

The Bat! 3.0 includes new Virtual Folder technology to help you organize your email even more effectively. This allows you to create lists of messages gathered as a cross-section from anywhere in your email database using a comprehensive filtering system.

The new Mail Chat feature allows you to communicate with your correspondents instantaneously using regular e-mail messages as an underlying technology. The strong point of this approach is that unlike other instant messenger programs, The Bat! mail chat doesn’t compromise the safety of your computer. Communication takes place through your trusted mail servers, and in addition the chat messages are checked by Anti-Virus and Anti-Spam filters.

The Bat! 3.0 has a Bayesian filtering plug-in as a part of the default installation. Bayesian filtering is one of the most effective spam detection algorithms available nowadays. The BayesIt! plug-in also detects URLs used in spam messages, making filtering even more efficient. First, you must train the plug-in by feeding it spam and non-spam messages, then it will do the job for you.

You are now able to connect to Microsoft Exchange Servers using The Bat! via native MAPI protocol to fetch or send messages.

The Bat! 3.0 now has a new MSI-based digitally signed installation package. You can verify the digital signature before installing The Bat! to make sure that the program comes from a trusted source and hasn’t been modified in transit. System administrators now have the ability to deploy The Bat! easily throughout their networks.

Works good, I know that Charter includes this with their Security Suite... Other ISPs do as well...

I have used it, and it works kinda like NAV, just not as obtrusive. Anywho, if I remember correctly, it uses backweb to update itself.

Personally I like Kaspersky the best, super fast, great update times, never had a problem. Plus it keeps quiet...

100% agreed. I used the Charter security suite for awhile, but it really bogs down the ol PC. I guess it had something to do with it running 3 scan engines at once. Very noticeable freezes when it background scans large files like SP2. Uninstalled and there were 12 fewer running processes in the background. Been testing Kaspersky since and I am very satisfied so far. Kaspersky is powerful and unintrusive. All goes well over the next week or so, they will have a new customer.

Here's another 100% agree. Loads WAY to many services in the background. We don't allow that crap here. Wonder if there's a difference between the security suite through Charter and the plain ol' F-Secure AV?

the people at eset are masters of marketing. nod3 has failed 2 tests. One in 2000 and one in 2002. also on their site, they link to this: http://www.esetsoftware.com/StopBuggingMe.pdf and try to act like it's an article when it was a paid ad.

Personally I have found that avast! is by far the best free one. It has detected many Trojans that some other AVs I've had before couldn't.

It updates regularily and automatically and even tells you about the update audibly,

The interface is understandable and looks really good and skinnable

It has Outlook/Echange, P2P (kazaa, Direct Connect, bittorrent, winmx, etc.) protection, email protection (of cource), and instant messaging protection.

Sure it sounds like a lot but you can never have too much virus protection and it seems to run nicely in the back ground and rarely do I have to pause a scan because I need the resources but you can adjust just about everything without getting the purchased version. Sorry if I sound like an avast! rep but I just wish this prog got more recognition... notice how it's not even in that list of 20 AV apps tested
