Stardock CursorXP is a freeware program that enables users to have spectacular mouse cursors. Unlike the basic Windows mouse cursors, CursorXP mouse cursors can be both alpha blended and fully animated at the same time. It's also incredibly easy to make your own mouse cursors with CursorXP as the different cursor states are just "bit strip" in PNG format (every frame of animation stored in a single .PNG file).

Stardock also makes CursorXP Plus which adds additional features to CursorXP such as color changing and changing the size of the cursor on the fly. There are hundreds of Stardock CursorXP mouse cursors available on most customization websites (including WinCustomize, deviantART, Skinbase, and elsewhere). You can download it at www.cursorxp.com.

New in version 1.31: Various performance tweaks along with support for 64bit Windows (for those of you with the AMD64).

Bah, I'm quite happy with the set of cursors I did with Photoshop ; they are PNG24 files.

It has full transparency, shadows and doesn't need any 3rd party application.

They're not animated but I was too lazy to do so

does this use resources in the back ground?
#3.1 AngelicRaver on 20 Jan 2005 - 04:38
Yes, but its barly noticible ^__^ mines only 1.4 megs with transparenty and animations.

The readme file doesn't mention "performance tweaks" of any kind... Just this:

"Support for DEP on AMD64 processors running 32-bit Windows XP SP2."

So those of us running 1.30a probably won't see a difference. Anyway, updated my Plus version here to be up-to-date.

That MousePill set roxx. Shame the CursorXP program doesn't allow right click detections so that right clicks can have a separate animation... oh well

Why isn't "Posted by Brad Wardell" immediately followed by ", President, Founder, and CEO of Stardock -- the company whose product is being discussed"?

Maybe he doesn't like to brag about it.

Or the news DB has a char limit on the author's name entry.
#9 jafoman on 20 Jan 2005 - 23:21
Guess if he's the CEO then those performance tweaks are in there even though the readme file doesn't mention them. My bad.

I'll never turn to the application side!

*Hugs Windows XP cursors*
