So probably worth an update for older office users like myself
Web Folders was written by the Office group because they are the first ones who needed DAV functionality (to be able to publish Office documents to web servers seamlessly thru Common File Dialogs, in a firewall-friendly way).
Since then, DAV functionality has become important for custom Exchange collaboration/workflow apps, XML web services (and thus the whole slew of related products like Visual Studio, BizTalk Server, SQL Server, etc.).
Therefore, Web Folders became part of Windows, starting with Windows XP. This is no different than many other Windows technologies which originated in the Office group. OLE document linking and embedding was originally written by the Excel group and then added as part of Windows 3.1. Things like "Tool Tips" (the yellow pop-up hints in the GUI) were started by Office 4.3 and carried into Windows 95. Windows Installer was originally created for installing, repairing, and updating Office but was made into a generic tool and became part of Windows starting with 2000.
So the answer is NO, it is not safe to install this particular download on non-English systems. Wait for a localized version.
