Supports WinAmp plugins and almost all the stuff that modern MP3 players should. Very efficient and easy to use GUI - no flashy graphics here though. Apollo has been around since 1998 and it's one of those programs that has a bunch of fanatic supporters.

Apollo 37zk with the following fixes and improvements:
    * The whole playlist structure is now persisted on exit
    * Fixed DirectSound hardware acceleration with some drivers
    * Fixed ID3v2 tag parser (some tags were not read at all)
    * MPEG: Support for MPEG-2.5 files
    * MPEG: Support for free bitrate files
    * WAV: Fixed a crash with some files

the GUI doesnt look too long. It would be great for older computers, such win95/98. It looks like it would load fast.

My biggest complaint with Apollo is the exceedingly long time it takes to load if the playlist is large. I like to make my entire music library one playlist with thousands of entries and Apollo hangs noticeably on open. Don't have that problem with the exact same playlist in foobar or VU player.

Apollo is just so much slower than Foobar.

And Foobar has an amazing community.

Looks like an ugly foobar2000 clone, without all the features and plugins... not much to care about

It's not foobar clone. The player exist since 1998 and development pretty much finished so no new feature except bug fixes and minor improvements. The player really isn't for the mass as the author himself stated it's mostly for his own needs.

actually, foobar copied apollo!
apollo been there way before foobar
it's just that the apollo coder specified at the very begining that he was doing this app for him only and didnt take any request
so basically, foobar programmer spent way more time in foobar than apollo's programmer
