Looks like a good program but I've got a standalone DVD player that also handles divx/xvid files. That way I can store many more films and tv shows per blank DVD disc but at virtually the same quality as DVD.

I recently converted the entire 1st season of a popular TV comedy comprising of 24 episodes onto *one* DVD-R and the picture quality was still top notch when played back

I just downloaded it and it seems to be a finely written piece of software. Its converting a movie right now so I haven't been able to check and see if it turns it into a burnable format.

Good job.

If I have a DivX format movie and I want to play it on my PAL tv should I force 25fps?

Seems like a pretty good program though, converted half a movie and took a look, didn't notice any loss.

Too late, now newest dvd players also can play divx.

I wonder if it does *.rmvb files...

Strange thing the author has the latest version to be .4.2.17

check here:

http://www.vso-software.fr/

I would wait until the author releases the latest version before using one that may not be the latest.
The program itself says it the latest to (has a built-in updater)

instead of getting this... just get dvd to divx prog and get yourself a divx player (hardware) put 5-7 divx movies into one 4.7 gb disc... it's worth it... i got mine for CA$100... plays anything i put in it... i have a philips dvp 642... highly recommended

What would be a decent DVD to DivX Program?

What would be a decent hardware DivX player?

He said he has the Phillips DVP 642. It plays divx and just about anything else you throw at it.

For some reason the outputted movie is very choppy here. I've tired all the different options, still not smooth

S-Video out is another low-cost option.... buy the cord, dont worry about buying DVD-R's or hardware. think Media Center.

I'm sure none of us will be converting pirated movies with this, only home movies that we had converted to divx

I tried it. Seems to work fine on anything but Divx. Convert 1 frame of a Divx file and the program terminates. No error no anything just quits. Mpeg WMV all convert fine. Just tested it on my 3 other computers same thing just quits on any Divx file.
