Overview
This is a desktop theme for Windows XP Home and Professional Editions. It includes a desktop wallpaper and a screensaver depicting images from around the island of Ireland. The images have been kindly supplied by Fáilte Ireland and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.

The new expansion features the Wookiee planet of Kashyyyk. There are 100 new missions for players of all types on this Wookiee homeworld. Most revolve around the Wookiees' fight for freedom from their Imperial and Trandoshan predators. The Empire is worried that the Alliance is gaining a foothold on the planet and willing to fight to prevent the population from going over to the Rebels. They've also backed a number of Trandoshan slavers who capture and sell Wookiees to buyers throughout the galaxy. Wealthy Rodians have also set up safari stations across the planet to serve as base camps for their own hunts.

its nothing special, they just got a bunch of pictures from the NOrthern Ireland tourist board, and used the olive green color scheme...maybe something for St.Pats day?

Then again, they may be promoting their "Genuine Windows Download validation' bit....either way, I did NOT have to validate windows!

Grr, after finally validating (OK, so it was optional, but I wished to check it out), it's an .msi package. For some JPG's? Jeez.

It contains a screensaver as well.
By the way, how do you delete the theme?

Hmm, ugly ass theme. Backgrounds are of low quality, as are the images used in the screensaver.

Just my opinion, but I dont think this theme is worth the download.

So by "Desktop Theme", they mean wallpaper and screensaver? Fantastic, it's amazing that they haven't yet managed to work out what the public want, and just take the code signing requirement off uxtheme.dll. It's not a problem for any experience user, but for your average user (see: incompetent), downloading and running something is a big deal, let alone patching a dll, unless they pay for TGT's rip off products.

I think you hit on a good point. The average user shouldn't feel incompetent when using an OS. That's called the sign of bad design which Windows is notorious for. It's an OS for developers not users as I always say.

You mean what the computer enthusiast segment of the public wants. I really doubt the public even cares what theme is on their computer.

I really fail to see your logic here. Windows is badly designed because they don't make it easy for average users to hack system files? The reason you can't use other visual styles is to _help_ average users by presenting them with a consistant UI.

I know you're anti-windows, (from reading other posts you've made on news items) but at least have the decency to think/read a little more before you start bashing

Here's a screenshot of what it looks like, basically just the regular green visual style with a different wallpaper and screensaver.
#15 AshMan on 10 Mar 2005 - 18:13
Would if hurt to post a screen shot?
#16 sculver on 10 Mar 2005 - 18:40
This is not a "Theme" it is only new backgrounds and a screensaver. Why even have an msi for this, just offer the images / screensaver.
#17 Krome on 10 Mar 2005 - 19:43
someone post a screenshot
#18 Digital_k on 10 Mar 2005 - 19:55

#19 cep_head on 10 Mar 2005 - 21:59

#20 xMorpheousx416 on 11 Mar 2005 - 00:20
That's what I was going to say Digital_k, this theme is OLD NEWS. Just a repack of some pics of Ireland.

You mean you don't know?

Microsoft will send their elite software ninjas to your house so they can sneak in unnoticed while you sleep and school you in the fine arts of their ninja skills so you know to pay for their software in the future.

That....or you simply won't be allowed to download the file.

One of those two will happen.
#22.2 Jaded1 on 11 Mar 2005 - 09:02
LOL@ the elite software ninjas

Some of you are butt nuggets!

I am the "general public" and self taught as far as computers go. I care very much which theme is on my computer, and like a different view now and then. I do not know how to make my own themes, and everything on the net is either loaded with malware, or cost way too much!!!!

Too funny about the ninja's!! LOLOLOL
#23.1 Angelhood on 11 Mar 2005 - 22:24
The general public wouldn't even know "malware" is a word...
#24 Hekx on 11 Mar 2005 - 12:18
It reminds me of the Microsoft 'Christmas Theme' pack, heh.

Well at least its something, for the longest time MS has pretty much did no themeing what so ever and past it all off to TGT soft. (wich I didnt agree with but cant change it)

I personaly think they should put software in their plus pack allowing users to skin windows or include a copy of TGT soft with it, but oh well.
#27 nic on 12 Mar 2005 - 07:14
slow down microsoft...
you're making it hard to keep up.
#28 MR_Candyman on 12 Mar 2005 - 08:09
wow...this really blows. OLIVE????

Some nice pics in the screensaver though, but aside form that this is horrid
(1 reply) #29 [f] on 12 Mar 2005 - 19:43
I think calling this a "theme" is erroneous, and missleading to the general public. One of the first things new users to computers do when they get thier computer is start looking or new desktop images (I know thats what I did....years ago)....are they to now think that they've been switching themes every time they switch wallpapers?...

I can see this causing a lot of confusion with the noobs out there....who now think that a wallpaper and screensaver are a "theme"....could this acctually be MS trying to do this on purpose, so that whenever a noob hears someone talking about themes...they'll think "oh yeah, I change themes all the time" and not bother to investigate all of the REAL themes out there, be they msstyles or windowblinds themes.

Ok, probably not, but still....missleading.
#29.1 SFalcon on 12 Mar 2005 - 23:27
I think you are also one of those "confused noobs" as you put it. A "theme" is not a visual style/msstyle.

This is a terrible representation of what the theme engine in XP can do. Definatly a waste of space.
