Thanks Viper6 for the heads up on this update.
Earlier this week Nullsoft released v5.0.9.1 of Winamp to their forums only to have it pulled a few hours later. They posted a message simply saying "Sorry, but due to *legal* issues (don't ask) 5.091 has been temporarily pulled and there should hopefully be new official builds available sometime next week"

Well, it's FINAL now guys...

Available from the main winamp website as well...
Note the website still says 5.09 but the download links are for 5.091 and the date stamp lists 20th May.

Personally i loved Winamp, too bad cause now AOL messed up the best media player around , and its not an opinion its a fact , just check the Winamp forums to see how many people are reporting bugs & '' calling home '' problems in the last Winamp versions 5.08....09 , etc.

Why don't you go look at the forum link at the top to see the changlog and what was removed due to "legal" issues.

It would've helped if that older news post was edited once more instead of making an entirely new post.
#12 kronix2 on 24 May 2005 - 12:02
They've removed WMA ripping? Suits me. I won't be buying (or downloading, for that matter) anything with the extension "WMA".

I wonder why they didn't call this Winamp 5.1 or 5.10? Have they reserved a relatively major update for the 5.1 version number?
