TotalSize 3.48 is now available for download. TotalSize is the Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer add-in that provides information about folders size (as well as files size) on your hard drive and files size on internet. Now you can replace your old Size column in detailed view with new that will show files and folders sizes. Also you can fast switch view mode using TotalSize Manager or TotalSize Toolbar. And at last, now you can always check files sizes on web pages before downloading.

In this release:
    • Bug of huge files (more than 4GB) representation is fixed;
    • Code improved.

Version 2.0.1
    Windows

  • Added Debug Mode menu item. Hold down the control and shift modifier keys and click the icon in the system tray to access it. Once on, this option overrides any Widget's debug setting when launched. No more having to modify a Widget just to turn debugging on.
  • Fix strange rounding issues with CPU Portal.
  • Deal properly with missing parameters to COM calls.
  • Fix several memory leaks in filesystem.isDirectory, Konspose, Reminder Window and About Boxes.
  • Fix window title of preferences window to be the name of the Widget.
  • Fix some divider issues in the Widget context menu.
  • Fixed issue bringing up Preferences in Calendar ("The parameter is incorrect" error, or crash).
  • Fixed problem where if an error happened during onLoad and the window object was marked visible even though no platform window had been shown, we would not display an error.
  • Fixed problem where we were passing INPROC_HANDLER in our context flags to createObject. This fixes the problems people were seeing connecting to Outlook in PIM Overview (we hope).
  • Made tellWidget non-blocking to all a tellWidget back to originator as well as COM to be used while handling the tellWidget call. Fixes problem where double-clicking a date in Calendar wasn't talking to Outlook properly.
  • Fixed 'secure' attribute for items used with form() function.
  • Fixed keydown/up handlers at the Widget level. Fixes key events in game Widgets like Brick n Ball.
  • Fixed dynamic text area resizing. Fixes Widgets such as Paper.
  • Fixed scrolling text (in iTunes Remote for example).
  • Fixed small issue with registration code checking for double-byte languages.
  • Fixed crash in Battery Widget that would occur after wake from sleep.

    Macintosh

  • Fixed problem where pressing keys while over an Image or Text object (which don't handle keys) could cause a crash.
  • Fixed a problem where setting the src of an image sometimes would not change the displayed image (particularly if both images were the same size).
  • Fixed a problem with random() which made it ignore its arguments if any of them were floating point numbers.
  • Fixed problem with setting HSL adjustment values to floating point numbers (which can easily happen in JavaScript).
  • Fixed mouseEnter/Exit when tracking is "rectangle" (fixes iTunes Companion).
  • Fixed bug which caused the use of forms make Widgets silently exit on 10.2
  • Fixed poor moveTo() performance of Window objects.
  • Fixed problem playing certain sound formats.
  • Fixed problem which caused large images to be loaded from disk more often than strictly necessary (improves Picture Frame performance).
  • Fixed problem with encoding handling that showed up on Japanese systems.
  • Fixed crash when a Widget with no window defined in the XML tried to create a window in JavaScript.
  • Added debug mode switch to Konfabulator menu (hold down Control+Shift when clicking on the gear icon to add a "Debug Mode" item to the menu; when checked it causes any Widgets started subsequently to open their debug windows).
  • Added a check that the name given when creating a window in JavaScript is a valid JavaScript name (same rules as for names in the XML). An error appears in the Debug Window if a name isn't valid.
  • Updated traditional Chinese translation.

    Widgets

  • Fixed problem where PIM Widget was not disconnecting from Outlook properly.
  • Added ability to read iCalendar (.ics) files in PIM Overview on Windows as well.
  • Fixed issues with The Weather when resizing and it encountered the bottom of the screen.
  • Fixed problem in Waste Basket where the context menu said "Trash" instead of "Recycle Bin" on Windows.
  • Tweaks to changes to The Weather's feed.

Ive always wanter explorer to do this, but tbh i cant justify 10 quid on something you can find out with another mouse click

Also i cant view the screen shot, i get " You are not authorized to view this resource.
You need to login." And im not going to creat an account just to view an image

I wanted to like this but it has several major flaws:

- It takes FOREVER to display folders that have lots of subfolders, because it has to compute the total size. I read the documentation and everything, and they recommend turning off the 'total folder size' feature when not needed for extra speed but that just sounds like a pain in the butt to have to manually turn the feature on and off.

- By default it displays sizes with two decimal places and NO way to toggle it. E.g. explorer will say "133 KB" but this will say "123.45 KB" and there's NO way to get rid of ".45" or change the setting. That's quite annoying.

- Worst of all: the only way you can select the 'TotalSize' column for sorting and have it work properly is if you have it set to 'KB' or 'MB' (or whatever, all the same unit.) If you set it to "Auto" (so that it picks KB, MB, etc as appropriate) then the sorting fails to work completely. This is just ridiculous, the whole point of this program is so that you can have other units than just 'KB' but if you can't sort by size that pretty much reduces the usability.

All in all it's a well-intentioned program but there are severe issues with usability, which caused me to uninstall it after about 5 minutes.

FolderSize seems have few bugs. I is good to run 1-2 times but not for work. Because it's "eats" a lot of memory for each Explorer window. Also each time when you close Explorer window it decrease FolderSize performance. And at last - it have no comfort UI (have no UI at all).
I prefer use better application even it's shareware (not the totalsize, but better than both).

Both aren't really everyday utilites ( seeing folder sizes "on the fly" ) so might as well use a standalone utility to do it.

Download

(FREEWARE and can be used only with the standalone exe (comes as an installer))
