Nokia PC Suite is a package of Windows-based PC applications developed especially for use with Nokia phones.

Depending on your phone model, it lets you synchronize, edit, and back up many of your phone's files on a compatible PC through a wireless or cable connection.

I didn't like this application, but I would like to see it ported to GNU/Linux, MacOS and other systems just for the sake of interoperability since it's not a paid software.

Yes, you could use vSender software from Nokia, that is if your phone is one of these models:
TDMA Network Service:
AT&T Wireless - 1260*, 2260*, 3360, 3560, 6360, 6560, 8260, 8265 (* contacts only).
Cingular - 2260*, 3360, 3560, 6560, 7160, 8260, 8265(* contacts only).
Suncom - 1260*, 3360, 6360, 8265 (* contacts only).

Highly recommend this version of PC Suite to all!

New feature ... is the ability to send SMS on the computer through a Symbian phone now!

Nokia 6600, 7610, 3230 etc etc ... it now works, it installs a SMS Sync program on your phone ...

However, it doesn't 'save' your SMS (on your phone) to your computer (yet)

It's a major update from its previous versions. It's great!

Also love the automatic image storing application

I still can't understand why you can set 15 min intervals for sync, but after each sync you have to press OK on your phone for the next sync to succeed. Not a problem of PC Suite but of the Nokia phones.

I've just downloaded this in the UK and I can't get it to work with my 6600. According to the Nolia site it's not compatible with that phone, contrary to what Wutang01 said. Oh well, back to the old version which never worked properly for me anyway!
