anything new in this update?
#1.1 MellonCollie on 05 Aug 2005 - 12:41
Keep an eye on this page, it'll probably be updated today at some point.
#2 mikeyj on 05 Aug 2005 - 11:25
I guess there's no new updates, so no need to update mine

Why doesn't MS integrate this into Windows so it fixes its busted built-in search? That way I don't have to launch a separate app to do searches, while the built-in function goes unused...

Because then people would bitch that they don't need this Windows Desktop Search bloat!

IIRC, this does use the indexing service so it is somewhat integrated.
#3.2 ev0| on 05 Aug 2005 - 15:10
its a indexing service, but has nothing to do with the aged built in indexing that no-one uses.
#3.3 el22 on 06 Aug 2005 - 18:36
raskren is right, it does use the built-in Indexing Services
#3.4 threedaysdwn on 06 Aug 2005 - 21:29
No. Ev0| is right. WDS doesn't use the Indexing Service built in to Win2k/XP.

> people would bitch that they don't need this Windows Desktop Search bloat

I think you missed my point.

People are already bitching that they don't need the bloatware that is WDS. But those who do want it, should be able to have this replace the built-in search, which is busted and useless.

This didn't update my version numbers. Anyone else?
#4.1 MellonCollie on 05 Aug 2005 - 14:07
I downloaded the en-gb.exe version from the link above. The general tab tells me that it's version 02.05.0000.1082

The underscore bug has been fixed!
#5 ev0| on 05 Aug 2005 - 15:14
Did you get the version numbers wrong or has the link not yet been updated ?

02.05.0000.1082 is not 02.05.0000.1110
#6 hodgear on 05 Aug 2005 - 15:16
FOr me the version number of the installer is 1110. When I installed the version number in help about was the same (1082)
#7 Zolk on 05 Aug 2005 - 20:00
Still showing 1082 here as well.

the same here..wtf???
#8.1 threedaysdwn on 06 Aug 2005 - 01:37
Perhaps it's a very small bug fix
#8.2 EastExpert on 07 Aug 2005 - 18:16
May be only EN-US version got updated as usually, and we in the UK are still left without Form Fill? Judging by installer sizes,... I'm tempted to think so.
