VoIPerized is a so called VoIP (Voice over IP) program. VoIPerized enables you to make free audio calls to other people who also run VoIPerized. When making VoIPerized the focus was to minimize the latency, because other VoIP programs always seemed to have an irritating lag which makes the conversation seem unnatural. By using the open source Speex audio codec the audio quality is far higher than any normal telephone call.

In my humble opinion, I dont think software VoIP applications have a future, with a growing number of companies offering free or highly reduced cost VoIP Routers allowing you to use your normal housephone network, who needs a software option?

OK I am done everyone post your kick in the groin comments below

I have a cable company that offers a VoIP service, I can say that MTAs (Combination VoIP appliance and either a router or a modem) can be temperamental. Scientific Atlanta for instance offers their WebStar appliances. . Caller ID may not work through the in home cat 3 phone wire network. . but does work when a phone is plugged directly into the MTA. . these things can use a phone network in your home, but YMMV. I have no problem with mine, but I've heard of some interesting situations. Not to mention, VoIP appliances do not offer one thing the phone company can. . powered phone lines. After the backup battery goes out on the MTA, you're out of luck. One nice thing about going with a cable company VoIP service though. . our service never touches a public network segment. My call goes over the HFC network, and straight out to the PSTN. Unless someone breaches my cableco's private network, no Vonage hacks for me. .

Conference calling is kind of rare in VOIP. I think that is a plus.

Conference calling will soon be inserted to Project Gizmo. I like Skype better.

Gizmo has better quality than skype. I dont know which Voip client is best though, there really is no 'wonderful' one.
