What's New in this release:
  • New: Feed Engine; This one replaces the unreliable one used by FeedMonster before.
  • Changed: Feed Database format; It is now an XML file that combines the feeds list (.fmf) and the feed link files (.flf).
  • Changed: Web Browser controls; Same IE just a different control
  • Added: Feed Auto Discovery; automatcally scans for links to RSS feeds in the pages you vist in the FeedMonster web browser.
  • Fixed: Annoying Feed Selection issue; Occured when a feed was already being downloaded and the user clicked on
  • Changed: Item Newspaper theme; Now uses a built in CSS stylesheet.
  • Added: Status Bar; FMWB actually finished now
  • Changed: Add feed and Edit feed moved; Now on a sidebar
  • Added: Toolbar and Sidebar layout saving; Now when you reposition the toolbars and sidebars they're automatically repositioned for you each time you start FeedMonster
  • Added: Tabbed Browser; now FeedMonster has a tabbed browser just like all the others.
  • Added: Colored Tabs; Tabs in FeedMonster now have alternating background colors
  • Fixed: ClickTwice feed viewing; now when a feed has never been DL'ed all you have to do is ClickOnce.
This version of FeedMonster has a new file format for the feeds list, on first run FeedMonster will activate an automatic built-in converter that will convert the original feeds file over to this new format. After the first run you will have to rename your orginal feeds file so that the converter won't trigger every time you start. There is also a known issue with the feed image element in all feeds that contain a feed image. To correct this issue for this release the feed image elements are ignored, This will be fixed in beta 4.

I don't have the 6500 or SLI so I guess I won't need these.

Did they ever fix the bug in the driver versions after 61.77 that caused a BSOD on my FX5200 at the start of some games (notably Half-Life 2 running at anything above DirectX 7 and also Evil Genius)? I've been stuck on this version for a while now :/

Haven't tried these, and don't really intend to since nothing was changed for my card (6800GT) but I tried the 78.11 Beta's and when I tried to view the TV-out it didn't work, the screen went jumpy. So I kept the 77.77 (best so far). Before that I tried other 70 series drivers and I kept gettin the BSOD. Maybe 7777 means sumthin.. lol

Still 66.93 here. Then again, I have a Ti4400

I had some of the more recent 77. series, but Steam kept telling me I needed to update them despite the 78.01/78.03 (I went for the .03) drivers offering nothing different for my FX5200.

I tried the 78.01 and got slightly better image quality in BF2, everything looked a bit nicer, but, they seemed to slow things down a bit. Was gonna go back to the 77.77's, (they were perfect), but tried new DHzeropoint 78.03 tweaked drivers before I did. 78.03's are awsome.

If you don't use SLI, that sure sounds like placebo...
No other changes should have been introduced besides the 6500 support.

What is GeForce 6500?

Anyone know when nvidia is fixing their terrible bug/incompatibility with their nf3 250gb motherboards with the GeForce 6800 video cards? This is driving me up a wall.

Don't know what i'm referring to? Its all over the net. Heres a good link:

I wish they would sort the BSOD problem because when I go to play games the graphics card gets too hot and then I get the BSOD.

It's either a nVidia problem or a XP SP2 problem and it's annoying.

dL,

The 6500 appears to be Nvidias newest low budget econo video card, to compete with the AIT x550. This is the kind of card your parents might use, but if you ever play games, you don't want it. To even get an acceptable framerate (30fps) in say Doom 3 you can't run higher than 800x600

BTW, while it may lead to some extra dust, if you are having over heating problems when playing games, just remove one of your PCI faceplates, as close to the video card as possible.

I had this problem with the Voodoo 2, as Unreal would eventually cause the game to crash because of overheating, but Windows still worked so I just had to CTRL-ALT-DEL it. After a day or so it crossed my mind to just remove a PCI faceplate and everything was fine, Unreal couldn't crash no matter how long I played.

Or if you want a more active & effective method, buy one of the PCI slot fans, hopefully they're better than the ones I bought years ago (mine died after a year).

I'm not fond of noise so I'd rather removed a PCI faceplate than buy another fan and clean the case more often (once a year now-a-days).

I have Media Center Edition 2005. Will these work for it?

The official ones on the site havent been updated since JUNE!
#15.1 travisowens on 07 Sep 2005 - 20:41
If by "the site" you mean Windows update then MS is VERY slow to put new drivers for any hardware on Windows Update, in fact imho you shouldn't use Windows Update for video drivers. Always rely on your card's OEM drivers.

Unless you have a laptop, then you're stuck with the drivers the laptop vendor releases. (In Dell's case, they only update their Nvidia drivers once per year and even then they are a year old)

these are WHQL? I get the warrning before they install saying they arnt certified when I installed them yesterday (yes 78.01 was the version yesterday)
#16.1 jstillion on 06 Sep 2005 - 22:38
What card do you have some of the older cards are not being certified or every few drivers the make a good effort to get all of them certified.

Are new drivers even worth getting if you still have a 5600XT?
#18.1 travisowens on 07 Sep 2005 - 20:40
Generally speaking, yes it's a good idea to keep up to date, newer drivers are generally faster than previous drivers, even for older cards.

BUT.... it's not really that simple, it depends on your card model and what game(s) you are playing. If you aren't going to nit pick 1 or 2 fps then always upgrade, generally newer means faster. But there are always high points where certain drivers are extra fast for certain games with certain cards.

A good rule to follow is, make sure you are always using the current driver series, iow if you are using 6x.xx and 7x.xx are out, use the 7x.xx drivers, that's usually a big upgrade. But if you are using 7x.xx and a new 7x.xx comes out, it's usually a minor upgrade unless you are using some card that JUST came out, in which case the only newer drivers will support your card's features.
