I.M.H.O. has to be the worst so called 'tweaking/utilities' application that needs to be paid for.

I have tried a few and this gets the 'gong'.

ah! $30! what are they nuts? i dont know how these people make money charging such high prices for what you can do manually or with reg patches and batch scripts.
#3.1 leesmithg on 11 Sep 2005 - 13:50
Because people are mugs.

I was given a free reg key for this couple of years ago via a tech magazine and I was shocked how poor it is.

They also have magic tweak thats worse.

The tweaking experience by http://windowsxp.homedns.org/xp/ is pretty decent.

#3: True. But you'd have to search for the cream of the crop of these all-in-one utilities.

My personal preference goes to Tuneup Utilities 2004 (or 2006 whenever it's out). It suprisingly does a lot, and the interface is nice and clean. It's $10 more than this barebone set of utilities, but hey.

Side note: While TU2004 costs $39, the equivalent (or less) of Magictweak + Magic Utilities, when bought in the 'powerpack' of $49.99 ends up being more expensive than TU2004.

WHY does this kind of crap make the neowin software news? every day there is another software package that completely rips off various freeware and attempts to charge for it. WHY ARE YOU POSTING IT?? Even fileforum doesnt post this kind of crap, i mean come on guys.
#5 Colin-uk on 11 Sep 2005 - 14:59
this software doesnt have enough features to warrent paying for it, especially at that price..
#6 soldier1st on 11 Sep 2005 - 18:22
tuneup utilities owns this POS software.
benz240:if it posted as it is somewhat of a good news story, thats for those who actualy use this app.i don't see why your whining about it,if the poster of the news posted it,there must be good reason.

Let's not upset our overlord Neobond to much now gent.

There's no need to take it out on the poster for bad software, and your warnings may help people to NOT use it.

Thats exactly the point of them. This type of software borderlines on scamware, and I think it is only right to let people know in blatant terms that they are paying for something that is readily available free of charge.
#8 protoss_chaos on 11 Sep 2005 - 22:27
how much money is Neowin being paid for posting about crappy software in hopes that people will see it here and buy it?

Going corporate Neobond?

#9 Lexcyn on 11 Sep 2005 - 22:30
Isn't this basically the same as CrapCleaner?
#10 Nautica on 12 Sep 2005 - 07:28
Lately it seems as though the software posted is getting alot of "DONT USE THIS CRAP WARNING"

why neowin, why? why post this crap
?

Neowin gets nothing for posting these items. We simply post inform you the readers about the software, it is then upto you to make you choice whether or not to download it. Can we please keep comments sensible. If the software has shortfalls then post them, there is no need to be rude.

Its just odd that in the last week two posts were made, both were for crappy software...

Both were for shareware....

Sad state of affairs here @ neowin....

back to betanews!

I never post here, but I think its time I did. I appreciate Neowin posting this software. From the reviews I read I won't download it. But its thoose reviews that are helping me make that decision. Its better to see something get posted and then not posted and I waste my time trying it. Anyways thats my 2 cents.
#17 Hitman2000 on 13 Sep 2005 - 22:43
Tune Up is better.
#18 soldier1st on 14 Sep 2005 - 19:55
SMeK:are you talking about my pointless warnings?if so that has nothing to do with anything.

you failed to read my post and understand it like many do,i was telling that one guy not to whine about the software and i told him there must have been a good and valid reason to post about that software.
#19 protoss_chaos on 15 Sep 2005 - 00:28
its all about the benjamins
#20 dezzo on 17 Sep 2005 - 01:18

I don't use it, yet I gotta say I'm sick of seeing it in the "Recent Software News" headlines.
Seems like it's been there all damn week.
