Versoworks has yet again outdone itself with today's release of Messenger:Mate for AOL Instant Messenger v1.6.0. Messenger:Mate is quickly becoming a popular addon for both AOL and MSN messaging clients, as it incorporates many requested features that any one addon has yet to feature – giving competing messaging client addons a run for their money.

The most notable changes in the newest release include the addition of user-defined window transparency, the ability to categorize away messages, the option to sign on as invisible, and even the widely requested “buddy pounce” feature – which enables the client to send messages to offline users when they sign on. A number of other features have been included in this version, in addition to various changes and tweaks.

Pre-existing features include buddy aliasing, hot key integration, user-defined idling times, message logging, theming, gestures, muting – the list literally goes on and on. Read more for a complete list of changes in this version.

Please note that Messenger:Mate for AOL Instant Messenger is available for $4.99 USD, and includes a years worth of updates.

This has quickly become the best AIM add-on out there. Loved his work when he did Aimutation and love his work now with M:M. Easily worth the measily $5.

GAIM is not an alternative to this, at all. It's an entire client while this simply modifies the existing client without any need for the terribly sluggish GDI+.

Bah, yeah I meant GTK+. Sorry, completely random mistake on my part.
