Will this driver work with 9600 Pro? Are the performance gains only for the X1K series?

Just the X1K series, sorry guy.

I believe this affects all open gl games, as this is an open gl fix. Correct me if I am wrong.

Since the X1000 series uses a new memory controller that is highly programmable, the fix is only for the new cards, not older R4xx/R3xx cards.

I'd be more interested in these drivers if they came with the regular control panel. The Catalyst Control Center doesn't really float my boat.

If you extract the install, you could manually load the drivers from there. I did that, and kept the control panel from "5.11" beta.

Thanks for the suggestion. It didn't even occur to me to do it that way.

why release a beta of the 5.10 drivers now

So that it is clear when they came from. Beta drivers are named by the month they are release in (here 5.10) but are pre-releases of the upcoming month (11). I can see where they may be confusion but beta drivers are always released for the upcoming month, not it advance of the month.

You may have read the news post too quickly & not fully comprehended what you read. I'm guilty of that sometimes, too.

This not a beta of the 5.10 drivers. This is a beta for the 5.10a drivers. Note the "a".

Easy to miss...ATI doesn't usually do stuff like this.

I installed these on a Radeon 9000 Series GFX Card.
However after installing them, when you move a window around on screen, its very jerky, couldnt get round this problem so i reluctantly downgraded to an earlier version.

You need to do a full uninstall from the cotrol panel >> add / remove programs first, then install the drivers
