great news,

AVG has never failed me personally, but i'm looking into BitDefender.

Just will never touch Trend AV as that was bloody awful!

Glad I gave Norton to my brother, now my machine runs like a a devil and his...... doesn't

as you actually have to BUY memory to run Norton (cos it's a RAM hog, but what else is new)

weird trendmicro 2005 and 2006 its very good all in one antivirus and firewall no problem with it, its many ways better than avg, anyways i use nod32 at home but at work its trendmicro..

Anyways i just dont recommend norton to anyone since version 2004 it becomes a useless, worthless and bloated piece of software

I love AVG. Have a site network license at work and free edition at home. Great program, IMO.

I've switched around a few times. Started with AVG, then went to Norton, and I'm currently using NOD32. Prefer NOD32 out of all of them, but they were all good. Apart from Norton hogging the RAM. lol

I played around with AVG for a bit but I've happily settled with NOD32... it has the best detection and the lowest footprint/impact that I've found.

AVG is rated one of the worst as far as virus protection... I had 3 viruses that AVG didnt pick up, I ran pandas online scan, and that picked them up...

been using NOD32 ever since.. not ONE virus in the last year

AVG has the worst test reports. It is a useless AV. If you want something reliable, use Trendmicro Internet Security 2005 (2006 coming soon) or Panda 2006. They are a whole lot better than AVG and Norton. Stay away from bloated, useless Norton too!

Great news, although I already knew it when AVG asked to restart after a 10MB update (the first time I have EVER had to restart it for anything). AVG has never failed me, either in detecting or removing viruses. And, at least on my PC, it takes up 26MB of memory, but then I have a registered copy of AVG Anti-Virus Plus Firewall, so I'm sure the regular free edition would take up less than 20MB. The firewall portion is absolutely great by the way, even more in-depth then the latest version of ZoneAlarm's (I tested both of them out using their 30-day free periods).

My dad had mcaffe on his computer and it really slowed it down with the 7 (or so) start up processes it had. I took it off and startup goes faster by 10 seconds and it runs slightly (But not really too noticeably) faster even after putting on AVG free which scans his emails automatically so he doesn't get any more virus crap that I have to clean up.

Hmmm. 'Surprising that Intel would invest $16m in something so "useless", ya' think?

That doesn't really mean anything. Company investments don't correlate with the quality of a product (if not, there is actually some ulterior market motive).

Though the test results also don't lie.

I use Kaspersky, I think it's the best AV I've used.

I've used pretty much all of them.....AVG, Norton, Mcafee, panda, nod32. I'm no where near saying the rest of them suck, I just prefer Kaspersky and it hasen't let me down.
