Maxthon (formerly MyIE2) is a multipage browser based on the Internet Explorer core (IE 5. x or 6.0 required). It can open multiple Web pages in just one window, and it takes only a few system resources when you're surfing with the integrated user interface. The application supports special plug-ins and IE extensions, and its features include autoscrolling, form autofilling, external tools, plug-in support, a newsgroup-browsing mode, mouse gestures, customizable skins, and an Autohide panel.

Thanks
good news

It looks good except for the new rss feeds and links on the start page
All I want is the Search Tabs and Recent Visited Favorites

I edited out the "Search Tabs and Recent Visited Favorites" from the start2.tem and now the browser doesn't connect to the internet unless I tell it to

I'll stick with Firefox, thanks. Anything based on the untrustworthy IE code can take a flying leap as far as I'm concerned.

how relavent is this? and how many people care that you think this?

Fanboyism really just smacks of insecurity. They can't bear the thought that someone else thinks differently which calls into question their own beliefs.

Much like religious fanatics really.

I think you got a point there.
How safe is a program when it uses the IE rendering engine?

On the other hand, you can download and install the Gecko engine.
You know, the same that FireFox uses.
I don't know the version but I know it was possible in previous versions.

Awesome, probably the best browser right now. FireFox is great to but I use this too.

"Improved Popup Blocking".
Yeah right, they removed the whole popup blocked toolbar, now I can't allow easily and fast popups on specific sites.

this version broke my adhunter extension plugin.. stay away till your plugins get updated if you rely on them a lot

My ADHunter works still great.

The blue popup bar still works fine on mine. Maybe it's just turned off in the options on yours.

Also the adhunter extension also still works on mine.

PS: I love the new and improved start page.

Im a Maxthon user for sometime now.. and i love it.. Yeah there people here that say Firefox is better but its all about personal choice.. for me i just dont get firefox just fail to find anything good about it.

Im sure the common put down is, its based on IE codebase so full of holes.. that may have been true a year ago, but just look how more frequent new security holes are being found in Firefox.. You can only just use what you feel safer with and for me i'll stick with Maxthon.

has anybody here tried Sleipnir v2 ...?

its much better than any of these IE based browsers out there...

& to all the mozilla/firefox people, Sleipnir also can use Gecko as its rendering engine...

hav been using sleipnir since v1.4 and havn't looked back since then...

has lots a features: RSS reader, mouse gestures, Security settings bar (a unique implementation i must add), scripting support (browser UI scripting), & coming soon a plugin SDK

give it a spin...

Why are people writing about that FF crap? This is a Maxthon topic.
Thank you Maxthon.
#11.1 Unwonted on 19 Dec 2005 - 23:07
Haha I know what you mean. I think it may be a new religion.

I use Maxthon on my PC and FF on my Mac. It's a matter of preference, really. I don't know why people feel the need to bash others for using IE and/or turn the attention of every browser thread toward evangelizing the unwashed heathens for Firefox, their Lord and Savior.. It's a freaking web browser. It's not like choosing how to raise your kids or something.

And I, too, appreciate Maxthon's sweet improvement on what was otherwise a woefully inadequate browsing experience in IE.

I just found out that Maxthon is the only browser partner with MS. I'm sure there are going to be people that find something wrong with that, but I've used Maxthon for a while, and find it far better than FF. Glad these guys are going strong.
#12.1 linx05 on 20 Dec 2005 - 11:14
It isn't partnered with Microsoft. But it has been invited to CES as an Official Microsoft partner.

Two different things mate

But yes, great job for the guys involved with the program!

been a Maxthon user for as long as i can remember, until i tried Opera again when it hit v8 and decided to migrate.

regardless, Maxthon is the best IE frontend, hands down. i still miss some of its features, but i've gained so much with Opera i'm not planning on going back. way to go Maxthon team!
