NVIDIA have released an updated version of its unified driver release under the name ForceWare Release 80. v81.98 is WHQL certified and became available yesterday at the NVIDIA website.

i thought the 81.98's were old? Or were they updated for WHQL??
whats the difference.
- Removed the Direct Access functionality from the driver user interface.

I'm no hired help (in fact, I'm currently running a Radeon 9800pro), but I do think that nVidia's drivers are a little friendlier, interface-wise.
then again, I haven't updated my ATi Drivers in a few months now

The list of supported hardware does have the 6800GS listed, but they were a no go here.
and also 83.60 BETA...
