- For Geforce FX 5xxx, Geforce 6xxx, Geforce 7xxx, and Quadros.
Looking at the files in the ZIP archive, the control panel isn't included; it's just the barebone driver.

- Do they support 1680x1050?
-

- I get 1680x1050 on my system no problems using these drivers ... but then I also had 1680x1050 even with the standard 5308 drivers. My card is a 7800 GTX.

- im getting ****ty performance with these w/7800gtx AMD 4000+ using all vista effects.
should my system be enough? -

- OMG! Vista does not use the Unreal 3 engine to render it's UI! Your system will blow away the requirements for Vista. There's another problem causing bad performance, like a bad driver.

- Tiny driver, the one for XP is 22mb+, this one is under 4mb!
This for sure doesn't contain a control panel, the size would have to be higher

- we've established that there is no control panel, thank you

Yes, the drivers are tiny, and performance with them is bad (from reports across the 'net). They also don't support mobile cards (they leave it up to OEMs, who have no idea what's going on, and who have to get the things from nvidia anyway!
. All in all, I'd say this was a massive letdown. Oh, how I wish my notebook had an ATi card (they can get mobility drivers out fine, for some reason).

- Thanks Nvidia, for another crap driver, which does STILL have the stupid multimonitor bugs, and STILL does not support 1680x1050. Its amazing how a "leading" graphic card manufactor manage to make such low quality crap, and they are not even interested in fixing all the bugs (ive told them about it).
Btw, i'm not talking only about the Vista driver - this also applies for win xp. -
#10.1 Posted by Blackice on 24 Feb 2006 - 22:43
- They also don't support portable ("Go"
cards. NVidia list them all as being "Vista ready", but don't give any drivers. Funny how ATi manage to give all the drivers, and don't even tell you to go away if you have an OEM card...

- I installed these drivers on my 5200 go that is on my laptop yesterday..i did a manual install and selected have disk, and on a whim picked the desktop 5200 selection, and it installed and copied drivers....and so far so good, everything seems to be fine, it may not support mobile features of the chip, but i use my laptop like a desktop anyhow.

As Steve mentioned earlier Nvidia have now released updated beta drivers for Windows Vista February CTP build 5308.
No word on whether this version includes a control panel or even the new updated Nvidia control panel.
