But... err...
Wich version is this? 9.0c?
#1.1 DaZmAnXt on 02 Mar 2006 - 19:28
It's still 9.0c, SDK's are for software developers, so it doesn't apply to normal users.
#1.2 _tux_ on 02 Mar 2006 - 19:39
no, this is the end user runtime. not the sdk
#1.3 Ravensworth on 02 Mar 2006 - 21:08
"This update includes the DirectX for Managed Code Update"

Seems like they would bump up the version to 9.0d to avoid confusion.
#2 kebabi on 02 Mar 2006 - 20:59
Umm... so is this 9.0c?
Is there something that DX users should install this for?
Oh my god, no more special effects, please?
#3 Schnitzel on 02 Mar 2006 - 21:11
I installed the Dec 05 runtime of DX9.0c, any point installing this?
#4 AndyMutz on 02 Mar 2006 - 21:22
this has been out for nearly a month now
like every DX update, this includes a new DLL.. d3dx9_29.dll which, i'm sure, will be needed soon by some of the games to come.
#5 Snakehn on 02 Mar 2006 - 22:59
Will this give any improvement over current games?

DirectX End-User Runtime

"Brief Description

The Microsoft DirectX® End-User Runtime provides updates to 9.0c and previous versions of DirectX — the core Windows® technology that drives high-speed multimedia and games on the PC."
#8 nexus291 on 03 Mar 2006 - 05:30
the end user maynot require it, unless he runs something, some game or anything like that made with the updated SDK

Like 3D Max 8 requirs the August 2005 update to work, while With december 2005 Update, 3Ds Max 8 SP2 works smoother in viewport

there we be no change in games, weather quality or performance, it's more like a bug fix version i guess

U can simply install using the webupdate, for me the download was only 3 MB
#9 Glatz on 03 Mar 2006 - 05:55
I installed it and ran dxdiag and found that 18 files had date stamps changed to today. I would think that means some new version. Just maybe not anything big.
#10 John on 03 Mar 2006 - 08:24
It's an update for Managed DirectX, or basically, DirectX for .NET.
#11 BrainDedd on 03 Mar 2006 - 15:09
This is old? I've had the Feb2006 Redist since the 8th of last month!

Why are they so slow??? They should be at like DirectX 12 by now. Back in the days of Windows 95 and 98 they were releasing new version every few months. Now they have had no new releases in about 5 or 6 years....
#12.1 j0j081 on 04 Mar 2006 - 08:04
you are dumb.
#12.2 cooldude7273 on 04 Mar 2006 - 17:17
...says the man who just made the most dumb comment in this story.
#12.3 Xerxes on 05 Mar 2006 - 03:44
Well that arn't really been slow, they are just taking thier time to get DirectX 10 done (I think) considering it's been rewritten from scratch (once again I think)...anyway, unless your got/getting Vista, DirectX 9.0c is the last version of DirectX you'll ever get, cause DirectX 10+ requires Vista....a subtle hint to upgrade to Vista if I ever saw one

I already got this file on 9 Feb from the same URL, and, altho that MS page does say "3/1/2006" nothing has changed at all.
