Stardock has released Object Desktop 2007.

Object Desktop is a suite of desktop enhancement utilities that allow users to completely personalize their Windows experience.  Programs that make up Object Desktop can change the look and feel of Windows, add new features to the OS, and increase productivity.

The programs that make up Object Desktop are very popular on their own such as WindowBlinds, IconPackager, DesktopX, Keyboard LaunchPad, WindowFX, and more.   Object Desktop also comes with a host of gadgets that require no special run-time in order to use.

With Object Desktop 2007, Stardock has focused on taking advantage of improved video drivers that have enabled Stardock to make full use of hardware acceleration. As a result, many of the programs in Object Desktop can actually provide a net performance improvement (such as WindowBlinds 5 which runs noticeably faster than the default Windows GUI and can deliver Vista-like glass effects today).

Stardock is also working on a series of unannounced Windows Vista-related programs that are due out shortly after Windows Vista ships.  Users of Object Desktop 2007 automatically get anything Stardock adds for an entire year after purchase.

Object Desktop is $49.95.  Existing users can renew their access to ObjectDesktop.net to get new and updated programs for only $34.95.

Just curious since I just renewed my Object Desktop subscription in June, I wonder if I'll be able to use all the new gee-wiz coolness of OD2007... Or did I miss out and will have to pony up yet another $35 to enjoy the new updates...

I guess I'll find out tonight when I get home and fire up Stardock Central.... (fingers crossed...)

Xyphus - no you're fine. You get all the updates for a year.

I'm a bit disappointed that there aren't more new stuff in OD2007, as if you had OD before and have downloaded all the updates and betas then there doesn't seem to be so many new features. However, OD is a really nice set of utilities that I wouldn't want to be without when running Windows. Definitely worth the money. I just wished they could include the full ObjectDock in ObjectDesktop. Another wish would be more high quality DesktopX widgets, as I find myself using Yahoos Widget Engine for most of my desktop widgets.

That must have been some time ago. This would not happen with any of the newer releases.

I dispise WindowBlinds for application imcompatibility and having to go and add stuff to the whitelist. I love the defualt Visual Sytyles for that.

I do love ObjectDock though.
