Slackware 11 has been officially released, just over a year after Slackware 10.2 became available. Software available with Slackware 11 includes KDE 3.5, Mozilla Seamonkey 1.0.5 and X11R6 6.9. As usual, ISOs are available through BitTorrent and FTPs, packages can be synced through FTPs.

I don't understand why 2.4.x is still the kernel default... 2.6 has been out for quite a while now.. and considered stable.. correct? why not just focus on the 2.6 kernel now? :|

also isnt that an older release of X11???

Because Patrick Volkerding is a nazi when it comes to stability. And it shows in the final product. The kernel is easily updated to the 2.6 series. But I've had far *far* less problems with Slackware over the years than most of the noob-friendly distros that have come out the past few years...*cough*Ubuntu*cough*.

2.4 is still used because it's extremely stable and because it uses less memory. Slackware is built for minimalism. But, if you wanna be all like that, then 2.6 is included, too so everyone goes home happy.

Ah, good old Linux. Haven't used it for a year now, only because I'm so impressed with Mac OS X. But yes, I do remember how stable and slim Slackware 9 was. Too bad Microsoft can't make Windows that slim and stable!

Could never get 10.2 to install, so never experimented with Slackware. Got hooked on Ubuntu there for awhile, but I found Zenwalk 3.0 to be more to my liking and faster than crap on every machine I have (7).

Do they offer a live CD/DVD to try it out?

SLAX should do it... I believe Disc 2 has a Live CD on it too... I'm unsure, I never use those...
